This was a fantastic story, well-written and compelling to the point that I couldn't stop once I started. I wasn't sure that I could get into a story that focused on Mukahi and Oshitari as the main characters - they're usually lots of fun as the snarky side characters, but from what little I've seen and read of them I wasn't sure they were strong enough characters to carry a whole story. I fear that, when I do get around to watching the anime, I may be disappointed if they're not fleshed out as well as they were in your story. The depth of their characterizations, as well as the characterizations of the rest of the Hyoutei team, were so engaging. The plot was executed with so much style, culminating in that "innocent" hide-and-seek game in chapter nine and a slew of so many quotable lines I might as well retype the chapter instead of trying to pick just one.

This story really had the perfect blend of drama, humor and romance. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful story that is still being enjoyed for the first time years after its completion.

It's funny how Shishido's language cleans up from the first year: his language is foul in the flashbacks, but cleaner as a third year. Subtle development due to Ootori's influence?

How would Yuushi's sister know about Gakuto if she's, theoretically, never met him?

Love the humour. Especially:

“They are, in fact, in one piece. Which is all the more remarkable, given the fact that they were originally in two pieces.”
(Great subtlety!)

“What? You mean they’re… Holy crap, Atobe, don’t look!”
(wow... Shishido's really toned down on his language.)

And...

“… Says the man who used to watch a certain doubles pair kiss on the court after school hours.”
(Nice, Yuushi!)

And I reread the Atobe scene- but I couldn't find any mention of Sanada.. :(

You killed me with that chapter. You tore my chest open and ripped my heart out. Really, I feel like a fool sitting here about to cry, but that was just too sad for words.
Why has it all be so complicated? Oh my.
Brilliantly written and very introspective, I'm amazed about the deep feel to the story and I also like the changing point of views with each chapter.
Anyway, there's just a small thing I want to set right:
It's written 'Auf Wiedersehen' not 'aüf', just so you know. It's nothing mayor anyway.

OMG! I loved it so much! It's so heartwarming and heartwrenching with all the drama and cliche-ness.

One question though: Did Yuushi and Gakuto sleep together already? I wasn't sure...

Atobe is so awesome! He's sweet, cunning, calculating, suggestive...

You made a very good story that really could explain what happened to Hyotei in the anime! It follows the timeline well, and fits in naturally with the PoT story; I start to wonder if this really isn't what happened!

Once again, I adore your fanfic. Your writing skills are so wonderful. It fully expresses the emotion and makes use of imagery well. I could really picture everything in my head while reading this.

I loved you choice of lines.

Okay, first off I have to say you're amazing. I personally don't love yaoi but you made it work for me! XD If every Hyoutei story was amazing as yours I would read all of them! No joke.

I know that you proabably won't read this, you've finished this story so long ago, and I jumped on the bandwagon so late D:. But if would consider writing a sequel or anthing else POT related, I would be the FIRST to read it. NO joke!

But if you do happen to read this, please note that there is a new prince of tennis manga. Look on to find it...and yes, it is called just that "New Prince of Tennis".

This fic made me laugh and cry. But the scene-
Shishido: God they're not at it again are they?
Ohtori: Shishido-san!
then those lines-
Gakuto: Oh! Oh Yuushi-! Don't stop! Please don't stop! God i want you.
Oshitari: Leave it to me Gakuto. Now that scene killed me! *ROFLMAO* Poor Ohtori-he had to be utterly mortified. Now I can see how they got the name-the Dirty Pair!

Once again, beautiful work. The plot really slid into place, and all those little inserted sentences made it all the more doramatic. XD.

However, and I think this is just because I read When I Come Back To You, first, I found this one a bit chunky to swallow and some repetitive phrases that are probably unnecessary. Of course gold doesn't shatter, we can move on from that, now...

Yet, it was brilliant, and another crytastic fic. A classic for Dirty Pair. I congratulate you. :D.
