I'm very sure those mice didn't appear just for nothing. I'm just not quite sure what analogy you really wanted to portray. Are the mice Ushiro and Kenshin, or both mice are Kenshin? Hm... my brain might not be working but I'm really curious to where you are leading us. hehe.:P

Great work here ..

A moment of heat haze and laze that the war back-drop seems to always skip out on. After all people don't fight 24/7, four weeks a month and all that.

Loved the atmosphere u crafted, the pacing was amusing to follow..

Also, great work on Kano, and the way he views Ushiro's relationship with Kenshin.. and Kenshin himself.. and the mice.. both of them, characters in their brief appearance..

Oh, I LOVE it! That is so perfectly Kano. I love his thoughts of Kenshin, and his very practical way of pointing out (at least to himself) how Ushiro really paid Kenshin no more respect. Ryu's more the older brother. If he thought he could get away with it, I'm SURE he would pick on Kenshin to no end, all the while defending him behind his back:P
