I really enjoyed this; it's so cute and actually plausible. One has to wonder where that "Eternal Rivalry" began, and how it could have, Kakashi being like he is. It almost had to happen this way, or something similar.

This totally had me grinning from ear to ear. I enjoy the rivalry between the two because it seems so out of place but this would defiantly put it in perspective! Awesome one shot! :D

*snickers* aw... these little guys are so cute in this story. Almost makes me wonder if they still remember why they keep having all these little contest now that they're all grown up. Or even what would happen if their students found out about this. ;-)

Pound for pound, considering this story's size, it's one of the best Naruto fanfics I've read. As a 'Whence Began the Eternal Rivalry, Anyway?' story, it's *also* one of the best:) The humor is rock-solid, and you've done a plausible job of handling young Kakashi, someone we know about only by knowing what he wasn't prior to his father's suicide, that is, Kakashi Gaiden Kakashi. Does that make sense?

I sometimes think it's Gai's excessive exuberance that when coupled with other (non-Lee or Naruto) Konoha shinobi really rounds things out and makes things human. Wish I had a complaint about this story, but unfortunately I don't.

The only suggestion I have, if you were interested in exploring the issue further (and unfortunately by the date of your latest posting, it would seem you're not), would be to examine how the Eternal Rivalry continued past the suicide of Kakashi's father. Certainly for a while at least, Kakashi must have rejected or at least tried to reject Gai's challenges. There's a lot of potential for the sort of painful but still good poignancy you achieved with 'Girl Talk' there.
