Phantom Shadowwalker
2009-11-11 . chapter 23
Interesting! Though I have to admit to being disappointed that she and Will didn't end up together. Hopeless romantic. What can I say? And that thing of his wave (or whatever) simply being erased from the univers once he'd defeated Sauron was just too weird! You've got great characters though! They're all really well developed and rounded - even Sauron! And I like Sarah. She's strong, without being a too perfect Mary Sue.

One thing I didn't get though. I missed how the title relates to the plot. Inheretance? You lost me there. Who inhereted what? It'll probably be so obvious I'll feel like an idiot once you explain it, but I missed the window on that one.

Anyway, great work! I can't wait to read more of your stuff!

ok!! Now I am completely 100% finished after two full days of reading this, I have to say. I LOVE IT! I mean, normally I don't go for the stories that don't have much of the actual, well, story they originally came from in it but this fanfic just hooked me from the word go! Congratulations on an amazing fanfic! *adds to favs*

I'm kinda happy yet sad at the ending, I mean, I liked sauron, I liked smike, I liked mike and I liked will and um...i cant spell his name in middle earth but you know who i mean! I liked all of them and you've combined all those relationships into one, well, two, stories while keeping the characters completely realistic! *gives 100 thumbs up*

God this was an amazing story! I swear the suspense was killing me. I was sad that Will basically ceased to exist. I thought that Sarah and Will would have ended up being together, but still this story was a brilliant piece of work especially since LOTR stories always tend to be about how the heroine falls for one of the good guys and not the bad guys. Loved it!

I rarely read LotR fanfic as I have a hard time getting into it but when I started reading this it caught my attention and I just had to finish it. I read the first one and started this right after it. I adored it and in fact I would love to keep it on my book shelf and reread it. Thank you for being such a wonderful author. I look forward to seeing the other stuff you have written. I know that I am a bit long winded but I really enjoyed reading this. Thank you.

I totally freaked out at the end of only eyes to see. I didn't know if you'd made a sequal yet, but you did and I bet you can hear the sigh of my relief at the fact. I have yet to read it but I'm sure it will be as interesting and well writen as the first. Thank you so much!

Hey, so I reviewed your other story, and then saw you had a sequel, and... wow. I don't even know what to say, and even if it wasn't almost 1 am, I don't think I have words in my vocabulary to convey how much of a pleasure it was to read this. I'll be honest, it was hard to read at some points because it was so gut-wrenchingly frightening and suspenseful, but I loved it. Thank you for sharing.

I read both Only Eyes to See and Inheritance in three days this weekend, and I absolutely loved them. I'll try to check out the Snapefics soon.

I think Sarah made the right choice in the end -- not that she really had one. I wish there had been some way for her to punish her rapist (Sauron), though, as Gorendil had the chance to take revenge and she had to stand by and watch. But at least Mike was okay. I'm a bit flummoxed by Will Gordon being erased from the space-time continuum (I've been obsessed with black holes, wormholes, etc. since I was a child), but it's nice to know that he really didn't 'die' in the traditional sense.

Off to read and procrastinate some more! Thanks so much for finishing your stories. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to find really, really good stories with themes you like, only to discover they're incomplete.

Btw, any other darkfic girl-falls-into-Middle-Earth stories you'd receommend? There are few enough of them as it is (Don't Panic/Okay, Now Panic!, Show Me the Way, Lothiriel), and I'd love to read another good dark one. I've found that authors I like are occasionally readers as well with similar tastes.

Wow. It took me two days to finish both Only Eyes to See and Inheritance. Your story is really good (although I would've preferred that you not swear in your story). Although the idea of a romance with the witchking squicks me out at first, I can actually feel the love between the two, even when he's in the form of Will Gordon.

Can't say I'm happy with the ending. I was hoping that Gorendil would come back to life somehow and that he and Sarah would have a second chance. (either that, or have Sauron actually *do* fall in love with Sarah). To have her end up with Mike so soon after losing Will/Gorendil seemed a bit of a let down. But, sad ending aside, I think it's a really good story. (I'll just pretend Sarah ended up with Gorendil, not Mike, hehe...)

Wow. Where to begin? I'm coming in late to the party – I read Only Eyes to See in the MEFAs, and HAD to know how the story was resolved...

I really enjoyed this. Too much, I'm afraid, to stop to make comments on each chapter as I went along, so I hope you'll forgive me if I just say here at the end that I found it engaging and very moving: Another excellent example of the power of sacrificial love. And I'm really looking forward to reading the Gorendil-focused prequel!

Your writing is excellent, and the storyline is very intriguing. Such a bittersweet ending, which wasn't altogether unexpected, but deep down I was hoping for a happy physical end for Will Gordon, as opposed to the happy spiritual one he has hopefully achieved. Intellectually, I know that Ages as Sauron's henchman takes quite a bit of making up for in karma, but still... I remember from OEtS that Sarah made a quip about "A Tale of Two Cities" and wanting to save the dark character, and that's pretty much *exactly* how I felt about Will/Gorendil. Although I was carried along by Sauron's playacting (in convincing Sarah that he loved her), I never progressed to more than a vague sympathy for his potential "conversion," I suppose because it just seemed a little too easy - he had a LOT more to make up for, after all.

One minor thing: I noticed in Ch. 1 that Sarah speaks of knowing Mike since 6th grade, but in Ch. 3 she definitively states she first met him in 8th grade. Since there and somewhere else there's a note about them being 11 when first together, I was thinking 6th grade throughout the story.

Again, I am very happy to have found your work, and although it's not obviously answered in the stories, I am using my reader's discretion to believe that: 1.) Sauron was destroyed along with Will; 2.) that M-e is still free of evil and damn well knows it was due to Gorendil and Sarah's sacrifice; and that 3.) Gorendil's soul is now in peace and will meet up with Sarah's again one day. (I haven't forgotten you, Mike, but I loved Gorendil first. Sorry!)

“You know what the problem is with B-complex vitamins?” I asked.

He shook his head.

I leaned forward and said, in a conspiratorial whisper, “They make you pee bright yellow.”

“I couldn’t have lived without knowing that.”

I LAUGHED OUT LOUD (STILL AM) AFTER READING THIS! GOD THIS WAS GOOD AND SO IS THE STORY!

2007-04-14 . chapter 23
Well fuck a duck! I am gobsmacked on so many levels! First off, I come back from my Easter hols to find that you’re all done. And as for the way you’ve done it... well, I can honestly say that you’ve rendered me speechless - and that is no mean feat, I can assure you. ;-P

What I will say, though, (there was always bound to be something), is that I take everything I’ve ever said about Will right back. The man finally found his balls! Okay, it meant that he ended up dead (which I’m not overly thrilled about), but what big, hairy titanium testicles they turned out to be! Had the weighty nuts dropped down the back of the sofa? It’s always a good place to start looking when you fear something may have slipped out of your pocket...

But did he know? Had Will figured out that nothing short of sacrificing his own life was going to resolve this - or even that that was his whole purpose for existing? He kinda seemed like he did. Right from his earlier meeting with Sarah at the church, with the goodbye kiss and all, he was acting like a man who’d had the short, sharp stick of destiny come poke him up the arse. Well, whether he’d known or whether it was all a bit spur-of-the-moment, he can now consider himself redeemed - not only on a cosmic level, but in my eyes, too. :-)

(Btw, I’m guessing that Sarah leaving the portal meant that it collapsed and killed Will and Sauron before they made it through to ME. I hope so. Being host to Sauron for an eternity doesn’t seem much like resting in peace to me.)

Well, as it seems I’m a little short on words right now (not to mention a little teary), it really just remains for me to give you a Whopping Big Thanks for keeping me so enthralled and entertained. For quite regularly making me leave my computer with my head in a spin; for creating such a hot character for me to drool over; and for instilling the urge to write such utter rambling crap for each review. ;-)

Now bring on the Dilfic!
