You know, despite the fact that it wasn't "light-hearted," this story really did have a very childlike feel to it. The thoughts running narrated were simple and pure, and not tangled like they could have been. I thought it was very neat how you still portrayed youth while dealing with such a heart-breaking topic.
Very nice job!

First, thanks for reviewing my story. The Village is a small genre and a rather discouraging one to post in, as I've found. Hopefully this is as encouraging to you as your review was to me.
You have Ivy's perspective mastered extremely well. Your insight into her motives, her childish confusion and yet understanding, is excellent. I would appreciate seeing more of this take on her as I feel it is perhaps more accurate than anything I've ever said. I also applaud your Lucius; he puts a whole new meaning to the rather cliche description "strong and silent," doesn't he? Several of his attributes were some I intend to bring out in later stories about him: namely, his hardworking spirit. I was also excited to see you throw in the smiles and Lucius' reaction to those; that's another thing I planned (and still plan) on making a story about it. People just do that, and I always imagined that that was one factor in Lucius' not holding Ivy again. You also brought your story to an effective close, and it makes me want more! It makes me want you to take us to the point where he does hold her hand. I'd love to see more of your writing; Village or otherwise.
Those are my somewhat scattered thoughts. I hope they're helpful, and I apologize for the length. Being concise never was one of my strong points. Maybe that's why I am so fascinated by Lucius' character.
