I have to say, I've seen better. Perhaps because this is very short (for your standards) and it's very romantic. (I'm used to more than just romance when it comes to your stories, and I don't find nothing else but romance in a story appealing.)
Also, the boy -Athrun-, came across as if he was comitting suicide, and something tells me that was not the thing you were going for ^^". (please don't shoot me T__T)

All in all, your writing style is refreshing, and it forced me to keep reading. So you may take that as a compliment.

your story is similar w/ the story i heard a few years ago but in that story, it just shows the part where the guy gave his helmet to the girl. and the story really didn't mention any name..
