You're right, the happy ending is over-rated... but this doesn't sound like the end at all. I mean, obviously, it IS. But before I read your AN I would not have thought so at all... Because with the personalities you seemed to give them, it didn't feel as if they would have given in in such a short amount of space/time... but I guess there are breaking points for everyone. That was pretty and sad. I sort of want to punch Zuko for forgetting who his daddy is. Would Ozai have tolerated that kind of lip from his generals? Not a chance. Zuko just needs to scare them properly and remind them that his word is law, and all that, and he can marry who he wants and anyone who objects can get their heads on a wall.
