CosmicEssence 2008-11-18 . chapter 1WELL...well...that was certainly not what i expected! No not at all...BUT it was still a delight to read, though more somber than anything. |
 greenleafgirl07 2008-09-18 . chapter 1 Hey,
Nice job. I think friedship is at the heart of LotR, and you write very well. Especially that last paragraph about Aragorn's smile and how they stopped keeping count because it didn't matter... that made me think. Keep writing, you have a way with words.

 My blue rose 2008-09-05 . chapter 1aw such a sweet story! |
lwarren 2007-03-18 . chapter 1 I just had to review this, Pentangle. What a wonderful, loving collection of friendship stories - even the one with Elrohir and Morgil! I especially loved the interaction between Glorfindel and Erestor - I had to laugh a little at Erestor as he pitched his fit and Glorfindel scrambled to save all the rare antiques his friend was throwing. (I would love to hear the conversation Erestor has promised to have with Elrond.) I also loved the last between Legolas and Aragorn as the fate that awaits them draws ever nearer and they begin to become more and more aware of it! Heck, I LOVED all of them! Wonderful job, Pentangle - just wonderful!

Animekitty47 2007-01-13 . chapter 1 Such a cute little story. XD All warm and fluffy without slash, the way most stories seem to go lately. :(
Anyway, good story. :D |
Kalisona 2006-12-24 . chapter 1Wow. I really don't know what to say! This is a beautiful piece of writing! All of the friendships are portrayed perfectly. I really liked the bit about Lindir and Elladan; you don't really read much about the minstrel, and it was very touching to read how he wanted to learn something /other/ than what everyone expected of him. I can connect with that. *grimaces*
I also loved the interaction between Glorfindel and Erestor. You do the two so well...exactly how I picture them.
/Still, Glorfindel being Glorfindel, he did not actually try to stop Erestor./
That was great. Such a perfect sentence that describes our favorite Balrog-slayer. ;)
Great story, mellon nin! I should go read your other stories now...*adds you to my Author Alert List* There! Now I won't miss any of your fabulous stories!
Oh, by the way...please forgive any mistakes in this review. I'm doing my best to type around my cat. In the spirit of the holidays, I don't have the heart to push him off my lap. And while on the subject, Happy Holidays!!

StarLight9 2006-11-15 . chapter 1That was truly beautiful! I loved it. I can see why you've won the contest. It touched me deeply and made me laugh at the same time. That was the first of your stories I've read, but I'll certainly read more. |
Jade 2006-10-22 . chapter 1 That.was.beatiful.At the end i felt tears spring to my eyes at your description of friendships new and old.I have read nearly all of your stories, please keep writing. |
That Tath 2006-08-15 . chapter 1Very nicely written! I liked the part where Aragornw as threatening to haunt Legolas if he died. Very entertaining! |
 seeing-spots 2006-08-11 . chapter 1Another entertaining short story. |
Sivaroobini Lupin-Black 2006-08-11 . chapter 1Mellon-nin, I can't even begin to put into words how this story moved me - if it is just a story. I'm beginning to think you're an Elf who didn't sail into the West, but stayed behind on Arda with Elrond's scrolls, hoping to educate the Edain. I really loved this. You captured the bonds of friendship beautifully. I especially liked the one between Elrohir and Morgil, because it showed how warm he is to ask his once-enemy to be his friend. And the one about Estel and Legolas. I see you have referred to your previous stories sometimes! ' Some day I shall surprise you by saying, 'Good morning, Estel! Would you pass the plum preserves, please? And by-the-by, I am terribly depressed because - '"
"Ah, yes! That will be the same morning Sauron gives over wanting to rule Arda, and takes up knitting sweaters for indigent hobbits!" '
I burst out laughing at that! And at 'And I am to be ready to fly my home at the slightest word, and to put my trust in an impetuous, headstrong human' and '"If I die I will haunt you. That is a promise. With blood curdling shrieks and water-logged gurglings. As long as you live—and I will petition Namo personally on your behalf, so that you live a long, long time—you will never, ever have a peaceful night!" '. I really enjoyed those lines, and kept bursting out laughing while my mother scolded me for not cleaning up my room! Which wasn't exactly helpful, may I add. But cleaning up on a Saturday is worth your stories.
I could see how Elrond had tp sneak out for some rest, but I laughed out loud at that too! This is absolutely amazing.
Anor silatha erin rad lin, mellon-nin!

SmileyHalo 2006-08-10 . chapter 1Congratulations on the Teitho contest win. It's no suprise after reading a story like this. Brilliantly written, very touching, and also in some parts very amusing. I want to be able to pick my favourite section out but I can't because I like them all. Although I must say that Estel and Legolas' section was particularly fantastic, with by far the best mix of angst and humour (as I always associate with your writing of thse two) especially the line about Sauron knitting hobbit jumpers! Also loved Erestor on the rampage and Elrohir finding a friend, that was very touching indeed. Heck, let's just say I love it all!
Well done, it was a treat to have this one-shot from you so soon after Mellyn? it definitely made me smile

grumpy123 2006-08-09 . chapter 1Truly enjoyed your story to the character in Imladris. From Elrond sneaking out to go fishing. Aragorn pulling Legolas's troubles out of him, and his cold swim. Got quite a laugh out of Glorfindel trying to save certain things from being broken by Erestor. And loved it that Lindir wants to learn how to use a sword. |
 LenaLove 2006-08-08 . chapter 1Bravo! Beautifully written, tenderly portrayed. Lovely. :) |
White Wolf1 2006-08-08 . chapter 1I really enjoyed this story. It got one of my votes at Teitho.
I think it was very clever to demonstrate the Friendship theme by using various 'sets' of friends and the relationships they share. It was a well-deserved winner. |
