riesling 2008-06-16 . chapter 1This was a very sweet story, sad in places but the ending was wonderful. You did an excellent job of keeping the characters as themselves, though it must have been hard, as death was never really discussed to great detail in the series. But to have chosen Heero? That was a wonderful decision because, for whatever reason, most authors try to stay away from that. But Heero is human and he can die. To further compliment you, I think you poignantly depicted exactly what would have happened if he had died.
Obviously, Relena would have been devastated, and you wrote her grief wonderfully. She was honest, hurt, confused, and those emotions mixed together wonderfully in her character. One never overpowered the other. The way you let her grief gradually trail into her normal personality was truly masterful, as well. You really showed your readers her healing process without focusing too much attention on it; things were subtle and I like subtlety best of all.
What I must really compliment you on, however, is your development of Quatre's character. He was simply amazing in this story! You took him from the crybaby little boy he was in the series and turned him into a man! I have read many stories where author's have tried to give his character more dimension and an older personality, however, none have been so convincing as your piece.
I am quickly becoming a fan of the Quatre and Relena pairing and your story has only served to further convince me that this is one of my favorite pairings. Congratulations on a truly wonderful story! Good luck and best wishes on your future stories, I'll be watching for them. |
