coming off an ap chem test. . . this chapter was well needed. I really enjoyed it. It's nice to read something so sofisticated yet so funny at the same time. And you just keep chuckin on the surprises. . . I just don't know who I'll run into the next time! First Caraway, Laguna, Selphie's dad (presumably), then Cid!! Tehe! Umm what is there left to say other than update soon?

Hey, this was a great start so far. Though Deling is a dictator in the game, you showed another side to him that the game neglected to show(though it probably wasn't important). I liked his characterization and it showed that he's more than a crazy dictator for now.

It seems Deling is molding and teaching Caraway things that he may not be aware of and that's what I liked the most about this chapter.

As for the story it's self, I found it very intelligent though it's only the first chapter. I can't wait to read more so that I can dwell even deeper into Caraway's past and his characterization, if that's what this story is about. Well, enough of my rambling, time for chap. 2!

Once again, a phenomenal chapter. Very well written. You nailed all of the characters perfectly. I don't have much to add to what I've already said.

I clicked on your fic honestly expecting a lot of what you see on today -- a poorly written and sadly illiterate excuse for fan fiction. Needless to say, I was pleasently surprised when what I got was actually the complete opposite. It makes me feel good to know that in this time of half assed fics, there still survives authors with true talent.

I love your style. Hell, even your disclaimer made me laugh. I enjoyed this chapter greatly. Really, I don't see much that I can truly critique. So, good job. Everything was spot on. It's a shame that people are easily drawn by cheap humor and horrific fics. It's an even bigger shame that they get most of the attention. Fics like these are ones truly deserving of review.

So, hats off to you. I'm off to the next chapter.

It's hard to find people writing about the politics surrounding FFVI, it's quite difficult but you've done a surpurb job of it, quite frankly. Writing is on point just abosolutely perfect, please continue.

This is a great story! I like how you put the place and the time in there.

Ah yes, a story incorporating geopolitics roughly two decades prior to FF VI. Situation was quite interesting back then, unfortunately people tend to focus solely on Laguna and co., ingnoring the world itself.
Since you are covering Galbadia - Timber relations, I wonder whether you will mention an incident, which essentially put an end to any organised Timber resitance.
V.Deiling (who was a military official in charge of Timber subjugation) had two main resistance leaders arrested and then publicly executed. Then, to maximize the psychological impact, he shot their dead bodies himself. Among the people in the crowd were also Watts and Zone, who were children back then. The executed men were their fathers.
I find it strange that such an important information can be found out only by talking to one of the Forest Owls during the Deiling kidnapping attempt, just before the party goes to confront Deiling (if my memory does not fail me, that is).

Otherwise I do not have much to criticize. Grammar, characterization and the story overall look solid, so I will look forward to the next chapter.
