I'm so glad that this was the first thing I read after a year-long hiatus from Paine is my favourite character from X-2, but it's so hard to find a Paine-centric fic that I really feel does her justice. This one, however, succeeds admirably at getting inside her head. As the other reviewer mentioned, it did sort of throw me just a little about Paine being a vegetarian -- I never really thought of her as one myself, but it's not really that big of a deal; I'll chalk it up to personal preference. From a technical aspect, I absolutely adore your writing style. It flows very well, and when I got to the sentence, "Today the Ice Queen is melting," I actually shivered (which is generally my response to a passage that totally floors me with its awesomeness). Also, I didn't notice any spelling or grammatical errors -- there was one sentence (the one that begins, "She tells her friends...") that seemed a bit oddly worded to me the first time I read through it, but I think it just might have been me, as the second time it made perfect sense. I usually try to be a bit more helpful with my constructive criticism, but... I honestly can't find anything that could do for improving. So I guess I'll just say "good job," and wish you luck with future writing projects. Hope you keep up the good work. -The Minno P.S. You're right; Fiona Apple is, thematically, great music for Paine.
