I ADORE this story so much. I makes very smile and go "Aww..." so many times, it's crazy. And so many amazing one-liners:

“As long as you know that I don’t value our friendship any less, just for loving him so much…”
“You’ll always be my sun, Sanzo…I’m just glad he makes you shine.”

I love your stories (especially since they are 53) and you are such an great writer. Well Done!!

At first my only comment for the first half was going to be, "Aww, Hakkai's a fan-boy calling their relationship 'cute'!" But then I read the line, “As long as you know that I don’t value our friendship any less, just for loving him so much…" That was when I realized that this was more than just a 'little chat' -- my best friend and I went through the same thing Gojyo must have surely assumed Hakkai was when she (my friend) started dating the guy who has become her fiancé. Suddenly, I was in Hakkai's shoes - happy for my best friend and glad that that wasn't going to change just because someone else had moved in close to my best friend's heart. Dissipating the tension with laughter was also a very good technique, I think; same with finishing each other's sentences.

Then there's Sanzo and Goku. Knowing Goku, there's no way it could've been serious even if Sanzo had wanted that. Goku smiling after being hit was so adorable, though, because it said more than words could - which is I think the point of any communication that Goku attempts; he has so much in the way of body language to make up for his relative lack of verbosity. And thus we get one of the oft-quoted lines between ASR and I -- "You'll always be my sun, Sanzo... I'm just glad he makes you shine."

And yay for marshmallow-y kappas. =^^=
