The bit with the kraken made me chuckle, just imagining James with his sailboat on the lake...and the kraken coming up to the surface...lol. All in all, I think you stayed very true to everyone's character. Draco is so evil a child, really and I think that telling the judge that Draco is just a kid is really very Norrington-like. Holy Cow, Batman! This was a totaly awesome chapter! I've a guess for the shopkeeper is: Capt. Teuge, Jack's Dad. James never met him, but he'd be slightly reminded of Jack... that or it's Jack and James' losing memories, in a big way.
