I enjoyed this, the beginnings of Carter and O'Neill. AND I would also enjoy reading about O'Neill's asking the General about Carter's bitterness about not being on the 'first' mission. I am curious about that (or at least peoples impressions of that) myself.

Somehow this doesn't feel finished, but if the story's just for the purpose of exploring the interrelationships, then I guess it's okay to be finished, because you did a good job of that.
