Having just finished this, I couldn't leave it without saying something, but my mind's a bit of a jumble so forgive me if I ramble. The story takes a lot of patience, since the characters are so... different.

It is a remarkable work. The plot is an interesting take on the 'Dark!Kenshin captures or is sent to kill Kaoru' tale. I liked their interactions and her difficult past lending her large supplies of forgiveness. I was glad his motivation was finally revealed (I had my doubts it ever would be told for a bit) and I like that Tomoe was the agent of his regaining of a life.

There were many moments I almost stopped reading due to the behaviors Kenshin displays that go far beyond even his lethal early days in the manga/anime world. However, your skill at writing made me think that there would be a point to it all and I'm glad I stuck it out. The final scene was a win for me.

My final thought on this is that it's painful, but worth it. I recently read a novel where the main male character doesn't learn or grow for all the pain he and everyone else goes through and it was very disheartening. Here both of our main characters have a shot at redemption and they seem to have taken it.

what a fucking awesome story to read. alot of twists and turns. the first few chapters i read, then i started skimming. it was one of the best fanfics out there. they should make this into the anime so i could watch it over and over again! i think it would be SO GREAT if they did!
