creature_of_the_pitch_black 2009-01-06 . chapter 1 i don't know about the rest of the story yet but i did want to comment on the beginning. it's just very thinly put together. a dragon god just happens to be drawn to ranma, the neko ken just so happens to be a bastardized version of a dragoon creation ritual, the dragon god is just so happens to bond with ranma, etc etc etc.
could you have arranged this any more conveniently?
ranma falling into spring of drowned dragon god would have been less of a suspension of disbelief than all those circumstances put together, and dare i say it(?), more logical.
oh yeah, ranma's something like 6 or so when he undergoes the neko-ken...so when the dragon looks into his soul and sees the loneliness he certainly does not see countless years of it. he sees only a few, since ranma was relatively happy before he was taken from his mother. |
Alex Ultra 2007-07-21 . chapter 5Very good, but I'd like to rebuttal on one thing. When lightning strikes an animal body it typically causes burns in only two places, the point at which the electrical energy entered the body, and the point at which it exited. In fact, if that body is airborne one or the other burn is often missing, and if that airborne body is high enough then the lightning won't affect it at all, birds are often struck and hardly notice, though this usually depends on how far from the ground they are, if they happen to be coming in for a landing, for example, the strike is enough to at least greatly harm them. Usually when a lightning strike hits a person, the greatest damage is caused to the nerves and muscles, and the damage that would result of sudden strong muscle convulsions, such as biting through one's own tongue, suddenly throwing one-self into a concrete fence or something, or internal bleeding caused by the sudden compression of the musculature surrounding other organs. The most often cause of death after lightning strike is cardiac arrest, the burns are only secondary.
Of course, that is natural lightning, there's no real telling how magical lightning would act, and as you said Ranma was carrying metal on her at the time, so frankly you're entitled to interpreting the results of the attack however you want, but it's not how I would have done it. :P
I really like this story so far, and I also especially like this chapter since it helps us to understand Ranma and his/her situation so much better, and I always like backstory, even backstory that doesn't affect the forestory in any way (one might argue that this is such a case, but others, myself included, would say that it DOES affect the forestory). ^^?
Okay, I'm going to keep reading now. :P My mini-rant is over (how mini it was is up to your discretion, I suppose, but I tend to ramble so meh xD).

SlickRCBD 2007-07-21 . chapter 7I'm glad you've continued this story. One minor thing, you might want to include an explination of who Garyx is. I've played D&D myself, but had no idea who he was. I thought he was some fiend or devil, but a quick search on Google said that he was only mentioned in The Draconomicon. I have never read that book. Most of your readers probably haven't either. None of my books are that new, most are second edition.
Other than that, the story was as exciting as ever. |
