I'm very curious to know how the story will continue now because it seems as youhave just finished a part of the story and now we will enter in another part where Kaoru will no longer see her uncle as a "saint" and doubts and questions will surface.

It still seems really odd to read Katsura as a remorseless villain. It's not really in-character for the Katsura of Watsuki's anime, but it does suit the purposes of the story.

Because he is a villain, I can't quite figure out if he's telling the truth about not knowing about the Shishio assassination until it was too late to stop it. I'll have to wait and see if the next chapter tells more.

Kaoru's so stuck on Kenshin! I could tell by the last paragraph. I have a feeling he's going to show up in her life again, which is all to the good.

Interesting take on the kidnapping storyline. I like that Misao was culpable as well in this one. The hurt and future forgiveness in the main relationship as well as in her friendship is good.

Your version of Katsura is twisted... I like it. The drug may be a red herring and its use makes Katsura into quite a monster, so I like the response Kenshin has to it in flashback. He's less annoyed at being manipulated and more at having the memory of his victims blocked so he can't honor them or atone for their deaths. It's a very mature reaction for a teenager. One tiny question, when he says he'll stay until Toba Fushimi, but that was the name given to battles after the fact. "Until we crush the Bakufu" would've made more sense. Or "Until I'm sure of the success of the Revolution" or some such. He could also stipulate that no drugs ever be used again? It seemed to be missing from the end of that scene.

Looking forward to how Sano, Saito et al get involved once Kaoru is back. Also, curious to see if Katsura knew the driver was listening? Perhaps he's part of Shishio's revenge? Just a thought...

Nice, looking forward to more, I thought ken would be more ** at the swap, still “Is there any reason why I shouldn’t be calm?” is just a damn cool line.

I will rejoice. It is good to get an update on this story. I was certainly surprised that Kenshin let her go in this chapter. Somehow I expected she would be by his side through whatever intrigue is about to transpire. As for Katsura, he has me worried, although I get the feeling that Kenshin is not.

Katsura certainly is creepy and evil here. I didn't expect the drug issue to arise, figuring Kenshin was betrayed based on appealing to his ideals. In some ways, I think the idea that his ideals led him to this path would make him feel ultimately worse but now he will have to deal with the fact that his boss is truly evil. Definitley unpleasantness ahead for Kenshin. Boo, hiss to Katsura.
