AmiMissMuffetVera 2007-11-09 . chapter 4
Wow! Already this far through and it's very different from the latest version of Coldest Degree I've read. I can sort of see the similarities, but the names are completely different.
Of course, this was a Red Eye fanfic, not a Contessa original =]
Cheers to the final!
Naturally Unlucky 2007-06-30 . chapter 12
(Is in the middle of preparing a hypodermic needle) What's this, you ask? Um... it's... a sedative for Lisa. I swear it's not a bunch of poison for Weiss! (Hides it behind back)

Ah, well. Horatio will get him. H always gets his man.

“Lisa Rippner shot you?”

Heh heh... forgot about that. Good girl, Lisa.

Yay, Jackson! He's awake, alive, and-- sleeping in a chair next to her bed?! What's in your head, boy? You need to be asleep in a hospital bed, recovering! Still... we all know our stubborn Jackson. (Eyeroll) I'd only expect him to stay in bed if he was incapable of getting up.

"He swallowed. 'Apparently, there’s some sort of parasite growing in you that requires an insane amount of attention…'"

You have no clue how they made me laugh. That's so Jackson with shades of House...

“Jackson! We can’t call it an ‘it’.”
“Why not? My parents called me an ‘it’ all the time. Plus ‘little bastard’—“

(Dies with laughter) You know... that's probably not something I should be chortling at... but it's so FUNNY! Just the thought that Jackson doesn't see a problem with calling a baby 'it' (even if he's just joking) is so bizarre yet Jacksonesque...

It's really sweet to see them finally interacting. They seem so happy, yet, as I'd expect from them, they're constantly picking on each other. It's really amusing.

"When the reporters became too pushy, Jackson flung a few choice words in their direction and herded Lisa through the mess safely."

Yay for husbands protecting wives from reporters! Nosy people... (Scowls and mutters darkly to self)

(Applauds) Good story! Very succinct, true to character, and of course the CSI: Miami crossover was totally cool. And, um, you didn't mention it, but it was me that kiled Weiss. Just thought your other reviewers should know. ;-)

Thank you for the entertainment! It was a nice read. Till next time!
Naturally Unlucky 2007-06-30 . chapter 11
Ugh, what a little SNOT! Kicking an unconscious, defenseless man-- how low can you GET?! (Snarls at Weiss) Um... Tess? Can I maybe possibly have Weiss when you're through with him? Even if it's his body... it'd be nice to have something to mangle. No one kicks unconscious Jackson and gets away with it. Hmm... after Lisa gets through with him, though, I'm thinking that there might not be anything left to mangle. ^.^ Get 'im, Lisa!

"Weiss would kill them both. There was no hope left anymore."

No! Don't lose hope! I'm counting on you to shoot Weiss, girl!

'“No, Jackson,” moaned Lisa, grabbing his hand and pressing it against her cheek. “You have to wake up. Damn you!”
She reeled back and slapped him across the face. “Wake up! Wake up, Jackson!” she screeched.'

O.o Lisa. Chillax, seriously. This is JACKSON we're talking about-- you know, the man who survived a pen to the throat, a headbutt, a high heel stab to the thigh, a broken hand, and two bullet wounds to the torso... he's got some stamina. Let the police do their thing, chica. He'll be okay. At least, he better be. (Gives a threatening look to Tess)

Yay for Horatio saving the day, by the way, even if it meant Jackson getting stabbed in the chest with a dull blade. Ouch. That's up there on the list of painful things.

Those poor little lovebirds. Jackson at death's door and poor Lisa exhausted. Time to read the conclusion...
Naturally Unlucky 2007-06-30 . chapter 10
NO! You're SO evil! (Weeps despondently) Not Jackson! Anyone but Jackson!

...you know, this slavish dedication to the man is kind of worrying, isn't it? He's a jerk, after all. But definitely a reformed jerk, so maybe he deserves some sympathy. Right, let's work back through the chapter-- I just had to get that initial burst of sobbing out.

“Calleigh, Ryan, we’ve got to go,” he called, turning to his busy team. “Wolfe found a location. We’ve only got one shot to bring Lisa Rippner home alive.”

Yay, Horatio! You go! (Dances)

"Jonathan Weiss, 40, arrested for conspiracy based on a tip from Jackson Rippner."

So he has a name and a face now. I never liked the name Weiss. And he's old. (Scowls with dislike at Weiss) What's that? Shush. I normally don't discriminate according to age (look at Sean Bean, 48 and handsomer than ever as well as totally awesome) but it adds to my laundry list of problems with Weiss. What a creep.

“4080,” he whispered. “Change the room to suite 4080…”

I thought that number seemed familiar.

All right, I'm going to read the conclusion to the cliffhanger! Evil woman...
Naturally Unlucky 2007-06-30 . chapter 9
“Jackson Rippner made the 911 call. He killed Matt Ridge.”

(Snorts) Good move, Jackson. Really, why didn't you just drive into the station and offhandedly mention that you happened to kill a guy and his body's back there? ...all right, maybe I should just trust you. You are the professional, after all.

"Jackson Rippner had reformed after rescuing Lisa. He had gone from tormentor to protector. He had changed."

Aw. (Melts) Nothing like a chauvinistic manager-of-assassinations-turned-good.

"They looked like the perfect, loving couple."

Um... Horatio? Are you sure we're talking about the same two people? ;-)

“Did you quit?”
“What?” Jackson was puzzled.
“Did you quit your job?”
“Yes—no. Not really.”

Haha. She so caught him in a lie. It just proves the power of Lisa, that she can make him tell the truth just by looking at him. Go, Lisa! I've always loved her...
Naturally Unlucky 2007-06-30 . chapter 8
"The last thing he needed was cops up his **."

(Snorts) That's such a Jackson thing to think. As for him telling Joe who he was RIGHT before hanging up-- great job. Now you've got her father worried that she's with a bipolar psychopath-- tell me something, Jackson; do you want me to just give Joe a gun and send him out after you?!

Er... sorry. Weird thought process; it happens. Anyway... moving on...

Serial killer? ^.^ Ack! Creepy feller with a grudge against Jackson. I bet you there are a few of those out there, considering that our beloved Mr. Rippner is a complete jerk.

Uh-oh. Red hair. NOT CYNTHIA!

"Dark circles under his saddened blue eyes betrayed the sleepless nights that he had endured. He had yet to shave this week and his longish hair was a tangled mess."

O.O You just made my heart skip a beat and now it's breaking. NOO! Poor Jackson! (To the fellow writers) All right, girls, load up! Let's get this poor man a care package! Sleeping pills-- check. Razor-- check. Muffins-- check (hey, no one can eat a muffin and not smile). Scissors-- wait, hold the scissors! Get a hairbrush instead. Operation Save Jackson is on the move! Don't lose hope, Rippner! Right, I'm going to go take care of him and then keep reading. I'll check in again soon!
Naturally Unlucky 2007-06-30 . chapter 6
...you know, I've had people tell me that I'm evil, but I'm not THIS evil. I don't throw people on the brink of indecision and then leave them there!

Is it Lisa? Is it not? I'm too scared to hope that it's not, especially with that flashback, but Joe IS her father. Maybe he's lying to the cops to cover Jackson (though the 'for Leese' is kind of a giveaway). Maybe he's confused. Dadgumit, screw theorizing! I'm going to keep reading!

...though, side note, that opening section with Jackson was cool. That's our boy. ^.^
Naturally Unlucky 2007-06-30 . chapter 5
Yay, Joe! (Dances and waves hands) Woohoo!

...I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to be dancing so soon after Lisa's death, but I'm really happy with Joe. He's a good fellow. That's right, Joe! Stand up for your son-in-law!

I can't help but wonder how Lisa and Jackson approached him after they decided to get together.
Lisa: Um... Daddy?
Joe: (Holding a gun to Jackson's head) Yes, sweetheart?
Lisa: You don't have to do that... really.

"'She was? Oh no…' Joe went from pleasantly surprised to down trodden. If Jackson knew…he’d stop at nothing for revenge."

Hah! Told you! All right, Jackson, let's get this show on the road. I'm going to keep reading, but I'll pop back in soon!

Naturally Unlucky 2007-06-30 . chapter 3
OH SNAP.

Crap. Crap in a hat. She was pregnant. That's EXTREMELY bad news for whoever killed her, providing that Jackson knew. (Of course, I'm assuming Jackson didn't kill her. Way innocent until proven guilty) The guy better run, run, as fast as he can. Our boy's after him.

...if I'm wrong, I'm going to sound incredibly stupid. But I don't care. Right now, I like to indulge in the thought that Jackson's on a revenge quest. I think we'll see. This was a cool chapter-- compact yet loaded with crucial information. Poor little Lisa and poor little Jackson or Lisa Junior. But-- good for her. She put up a fight and she was protecting her baby. That's our girl.

Okay, I'm going to keep going. I'll check in again before long!
Naturally Unlucky 2007-06-30 . chapter 1
Oh, eerie beginning. And let me just say-- WOOHOO! A CSI: Miami crossover! I love that show... I could never get into the original CSI, and I know CSI: New York would be cool if I could just figure out how to access it, but Horatio is the man. That's all there is to it.

...right, we were talking about the story. Very spooky. I'm getting a horrid suspicion about all this (yes, already, but my head churns out conspiracy theories lickety-split... did I just type lickety-split?!). I'm going to keep reading...
LittleAnne 2006-12-27 . chapter 12

Pukkina 2006-10-11 . chapter 12
I liked...

"Apparently, there’s some sort of parasite growing in you that requires an insane amount of attention…”

and

“Why not? My parents called me an ‘it’ all the time. Plus ‘little bastard’—“

Those two lines made me laugh SO HARD. Plus...I LOVED THE ENDING!! So sweet, and glad that everyone found justice. Keep up the good work!!
