I have been reading your stuff since Gargoyles first came out. (i even met you briefly at the first Gathering) I dont watch Justice League, all i know if it is through your stories. And yet, your prose is so powerful, so clear, so well written that from the get go I feel as though I know these characters and understand their lives. It is a gift to write so well, but so sparsely. I was impressed with your Owen and Magus pieces way back when, but every time i get to read anything you or Nancy Brown writes I become even more impressed.
Kudos to you. And please, keep it up, I love getting the author notices in my inbox, it is always a treat!

As I am really fond of Kai-ro, I liked this a lot. His humble origins were sweet, and I loved John's attachment to him. It's a nice contrast between the hard military man who is also a father, and the child who isn't really a child. The brief history on the Lanterns before him was a nice touch. It gives the feeling of how eternal the Lanterns are, that they never truly die. Almost like the cycle of reincarnation, in a way, is what it reminds me of. The final scene was gorgeous too, bringing the entire League full circle. Great work.
