I loved this deaging story and the epilogue was the perfect way to end it!

What a lovely story!

I loved child-Sev, though I felt sorry for him, too. I was so glad that Voldemort didn't keep him after Lucius failed to re-age him. The fear of not being loved was kind of logical and I'm so glad that Dumbledore hugged him when he was changed back- I kinda hoped he would.

Sev really gets too little love and care in the books in my opinion. True, he can be and often is downright nasty, but really, that's not such a surprise, isn't it? I mean, look how he's been treated all his live. He never had someone to talk to besides Lily, who left him, too and well, as much as I like Dumbledore, he didn't act so nice towards him either. I mean, seriously? Making him kill his saviour and thus dooming him to have to go back to Voldemort and be hated by the good side? Manipulating him like that, it simply wasn't fair. Though I think Dumbledore did have some sort of paternal affection for Sev.

Anyways, it's no wonder he acts nasty and contemptous most of the time, it's simply a sort of protective reaction. Cause if you don't let someone in, they can't hurt you (okay, that's not true, but one doesn't think about that when he/she's acting this way).

Sorry for my rant.

I wonder, though...who are those spies Dumbledore speaks of? And please don't tell me they're also being treated like Sev, with distrust by everyone but Dumbledore?

There's an easy explanation for why Draco got sorted into Slytherin, in spite of not being particularly cunning: The sorting hat doesn't sort based on the child's personality at the time of the sorting, nor based on the child's future personality - that would require much more wisdom than what one might hope for from an animated hat. Instead the hat sorts based on what kind of person the child desires to be. Draco desired, at the time of his sorting, to be cunning and ambitious - his lack of talent at actually *being* cunning and ambitious was not relevant.

This also explain why Hermione is sorted into Gryffindor in spite of being studious - what she *desired*, when she was sorted, was to become brave. Similarly, Neville took several years to become brave, and the hat couldn't have known that he ever would. But he *wanted* to be brave, and so he was put into Gryffindor.

A more important example is Perrigrew, who *never* became brave - not in his seven years of school life, nor after graduation. But he *wanted* to be brave, and that was all that mattered with regards to sorting.

And I can't imagine anyone thinking of Crabbe and Goyle as cunning, but they wanted to be cunning, and therefore they were put in Slytherin.

I really wish I could write a baby story as good as you do...
