The Unbreakable Snape Fan 8/28/07 . chapter 6Hell. Yes. You've turned me on to Beckett/Norrington. Love it. |
The Unbreakable Snape Fan 8/28/07 . chapter 2I just love your characterization. |
The Unbreakable Snape Fan 8/28/07 . chapter 1Haha, slowly winning him over. |
ArieiDelmonte 6/1/07 . chapter 5Wow... wow... I like it! It all made sense with the movies too. :D yay! I love how you have Cutler playing the violin. I've never thought about that and yet it totally makes sense. Would happen to mind terribly if I used that in a fic I might write in the future? I would credit you and everything... *hopeful smile* This is a great story though. Keep up the good work. |
K-chan 5/28/07 . chapter 1 I don't think I can think properly now. This story is written with a very... Crisp and connected style that enraptures the reader. The way you portrayed Beckett, the description of the violin pieces and the mood you set makes me feel as though I'm in Calcutta, able to smell the general smell of spices, watching him play the violin with grace and extreme care. I like how you build up their relationship. There's an appropriate amount of cautiousness in it, and there's the growing mutual respect and interest. And Ramakrishna is an interesting side-character. Whenever I see the 'ay', I smile, because I can imagine the guy himself tripping over his words, scratching and/or rubbing his head guiltily with an expression of a tentative half-apology. The part about Beckett doing too many 'sonatas in minor keys' was amusing. Enforces the characteristic of sensitivity. The rise in their positions and the acquiring of power was also well-written. It was paced nicely without seeming too rushed nor forced. The theory of your story seems so realistic that I can believe that these two were indeed well-acquainted with each other before they met when they had rose to greater heights. Beautiful. I shall now go off to your profile to check if you have anymore brilliant fanfictions on Beckington. |
Ripper101 1/13/07 . chapter 5I've read this from the first word to the last and found it utterly beautiful. Your writing style is very effective, very dry. It's strange just how regimental it is at times, almost as though the narrative is another version of your characters. And your characters... major props to you for situating them so well. I've always loved Norrington and you've made me feel as though a tiny piece of him has been redefined and given lustre. The whole was off-set by some of the most well-rounded research I've seen across quite a few fandoms. I could almost smell the rancid spice. I loved this, I really did. |
brokenoutoft 11/3/06 . chapter 5I'm quite appalled that this story doesn't have more reviews. I don't usually read slash, but I clicked on this for some reason and was instantly drawn into the story. You have a wonderful sense of period, and Calcutta was drawn to perfection- it's always a treat to read PotC fic where the author has clearly put a lot of effort into historical detail. Your characterisation was also very convincing. Bravo! |
Athene 11/2/06 . chapter 5 ...I can't believe this fic doesn't have reviews already, it's so wonderful. I actually came onto looking to be a masochist and find some fic which horribly butchered Beckett because he's a 'bad man' and what do I find at the top of the list? This. Now, I've already read it off of the beckington lj community, but the addition of Silver Cross was...a very welcome suprise. You just do wonders with both of the characters. Keep it up! |
