I was only thinking the other day about how Ruth never really seemed to date throughout the series, bless her (not that being a spook and having a social life probably go together) but you may have uncovered the secret reason why lol! I love it. Poor Harry, glad he has a plan and isn't just going to let her go swanning off into the sunset with Roger!
