Aeris Hikari 2009-11-26 . chapter 15I knew it! I'm so happy for Qustis !
I hope to read the next chapters soon ^^ As always you write very well and it's a pleasure to read. It's the best crossover ever! |
gracie 2009-11-04 . chapter 14 have you read Nick Bantock's Griffin and Sabine series? it's kinda like these letter chapters... it kinda reminded me of that. it's like getting an inside look at how a person thinks or his/her personality. i like it. keep up the wonderful work. you have me hooked. =) |
Useless-Materia 2009-11-02 . chapter 15Whew! I went and reread this whole story, since I saw you were updating again. Oh it's still so fantastic! I love how you're planning this all out and I love the connections you're making to the two Final Fantasies. You make it seem so effortless! Like the stories were meant to go together from the beginning.
And I never cared for Rinoa, but your Rinoa is so tragic and beautiful. I LOVE the addition of her letters. This story is so sad and wonderful.
I'm pretty positive I know where it's going, and I love it. |
FallenAngelCyril 2009-11-02 . chapter 15Oh, it's getting good now. Please don't give up on this story! It's so rare to see crossovers done "right." I'd hate to see it abandoned before completion. |
damaged7 2009-11-02 . chapter 15More good chapters. This is the best FFVI story still going for my money. I can see how you might have trouble keeping it all organized, it seems very large in scale.
A mistake I noticed was that when Serabin is talking to Arsen, it should be Braille, not brail. |
bhoy1888 2009-11-02 . chapter 15Hey, hey Altol ... you cheered me right up when you posted these two chapters :D well chapter and letter ... but that's just semantics! :P
I quite enjoyed this chapter, though it was strange to see no Seifer in it but whatever. I thought you gave a very good rendition of President Shinra's attitude, rather than the idiot they made him out to be in the game.
And the introduction of Vincent was a nice touch towards the end and Quistis finding out she was impossibly prenaant was good too, I can see her being in complete denial about it and Siefer's reaction should be priceless. :P
I can guess that your setting Rinoa up for a fall? And I know you can't stay perfectly true to FFVII as it's a crossover and sometimes people don't notice in game but both of Zack's parents are alive, cloud even visits them at some point ... of course he doesn't know who they are though! I just thought you should know that in case you didn't!
Apart from that it was nearly flawless and I think I'm maybe gaining an insight into where your taking this but for all I know I'm talkin' out my ass. :P
Cheers for the hangover cure though, it was a pleasure to read! |
NineCalaveras 2009-11-01 . chapter 15Loved the beginning. Young Quistis was awesome. And Briyak did indeed kick ass. I love tough characters with a touch of kooky.
If you're having trouble writing, it's hard to tell. Your ability to flesh out these worlds is amazing! There's a great deal of ORIGINAL work out there that fails to reach the level of thought yours does. It can be hard getting into the thick of storytelling when you're weaving two different plots together, especially when you haven't played either game recently. You're very fortunate that, along with your natural skill, you have people helping you get the details right. It's that special attention that gives your story that deep sense of genuineness.
So on that note, I'd like to thank those betas as well! Good betas are invaluable.
I, for one, know the pains of having trouble writing out something you can even halfway like. I say--take the time you need and just meditate on it. If there's anyone who can make a FF7-FF8 crossover work, it's you!
All the best luck with NaNoWriMo! |
asga 2009-11-01 . chapter 15Thank you so much for new chapters ^^ |
hypemachine 2009-11-01 . chapter 15As a rabid fan of FFVII and a fan of this particular FFVI pairing, I have to say that despite your reservations the crossover has been pretty believable. It's AU enough, seven-wise, for this to work.
Quistis' test results? Well, that was clearly in the bonus zone!
I sincerely hope that you continue this story to the end. Cheers to your muse! |
sissyHIYAH 2009-11-01 . chapter 15Ooh! Also-- Avalon Scrolls? Hmm...
So even though I've already told you what I think about this chapter on lj, I had to leave another Oh-my-God-I-love-this-story-and-I'm-so-hooked-on-it-even-though-you-are-frustrated-with-the-whole-crossover-and-all-problems-contained-therin review.
“No. Leave him here. He’s…atoning.”
And I've fallen in love with Arsen and all his take-no-bullshit kickassery. This line...oh, mercy. THIS LINE! Brilliance! Absolute brilliance!
So, now I'm dying for more of what you plan to do with this magic/materia crossover business. I sense all kinds of mischief from our mad little scientists.
You better update fast, sister. That's an order. My sanity depends upon it. |
sissyHIYAH 2009-11-01 . chapter 14These letters are just all kinds of awesome. Even though I just never could make myself like the ingame Rinoa, I'm fond of your version of her. Not quite so perfect and much more likeable. And how she keeps talking about Zack--I just love those cute little motherly details. Rinoa as a mother is much better than Rinoa as Rinoa, if that makes sense. She seems so happy and so eager to share it with Quistis, who seems to need it much more than any of the rest of their little group.
I wonder what subsequent letters will be like once things really start to go down. Hm... |
Yori Kiri 2009-10-21 . chapter 13omg a crossover ew... have you watched starship troopers? buy it on ;p xd |
Lilithas 2009-10-19 . chapter 13So glad to see that you're still updating this! I was worried it would be discontinued.
Keep up the good work - you're the one who got me hooked on Seiftis fics (all thanks to Fire and Ice, which is still the best piece of writing I've ever seen in fanfiction. After I read that, I was just like, "OH MY GOD.") |
NineCalaveras 2009-10-04 . chapter 3A little odd, reading it without the punctuation marks, but I recall seeing a note somewhere that you said you were having trouble with the site. Still, I understood the chapter without much trouble.
Glyphias wasn't a bad guy at all. Not really...but I can certainly sympathize with Seifer's quiet aggression towards him. The guy just rubs the wrong way, especially when pushing male rivalry. |
NineCalaveras 2009-10-04 . chapter 1After re-reading "Fire and Ice", I've finally started reading your sequel. I think when you first started it, I wasn't really interested. I was happy with the end to F&I and wasn't a huge fan of cross-overs. Now, however, I'm a bit more open minded.
Looking forward to seeing how this goes! |
