I don't think it's cliche`, it's rather nice. Short and sweet, it is what it is and it doesn't pretend to be anything more.

I'm glad everything worked out, but my relief is at least partly for Karen's sake. She didn't chose the best way to make Sara feel better (she could have tried actually talking to her step-daughter) but she tried really hard.

Gosh darn you! I refuse to beg, but do you realize that by not completing this story you give others the oppertunity to write something like this as an introduction, possibly the only missing piece to their elaborate tale? Do us a favor and don't write cliff hangers anymore.
