So sweet. I loved that line, too. I like your description of the current Dean - the pale shadow of Sam's hero. Poor, poor boys.

Oh that was so sad. And so beautiful. I adore Sam as Sammy, Dean calling him Sammy and how Sam reverted to being Sammy around his dad.

In the show you just can see how he needs Dean to keep calling him Sammy - it's his link to his Dean, to his dad, to his family. The 'only he gets to call me that' seemed to hold a plea for it to continue. At the moment Sam feels, I think, that he's lost Dean too. And he wants him back. Badly.

I loved that line in the show. Cool story.
