I snorted tea when I read "non-symmetrical country planning," and completely LOST IT at "Sun Toph." This is wonderful and a great, wonderful way of adapting both series to each other, and oh shit, this whole damned fic was just fantastic.

Beyond brillant, but one line got me.

I hope against hope that Aanf rode a cat-antelope cross (which would be very pretty come to think about it) and not a giant rolling melon 'cause that I think would break my brain after reading this.

Heh. I think I got most of the jokes, at least those pertaining to the Saiyuki version of Journey to the West.

Anyway, I love the Journey to the West references, since it really does fit Avatar way better than I thought. The little asides were really funny, and yay Bumi! He was hilarious and scarily spot-on and, like, in the story at all. Also Cabbage Man references for the win.
