God. I loved this fic from the first - namely, Ichigo's innocent question about Rukia's drawings and Renji's telling, effortless reply. Loved the RenRuki conversations, just perfect... I couldn't even hate Orihime at the end of it. Lovely work.

characterization is right on, dude...especially, Byakuya's behavior during dinner and before Renji and Rukia leave for Hueco Mundo (showing him as an organic character who changes and strays from a stereotype to comic effect is brilliant)

you have a good touch inserting that humor... so that it's not too serious (i.e. "for the first time, he thought she really came to resemble her brother...and for the first time, he discovers he doesn't find a comparison to Byakuya distasteful" then "this time comparing her to her brother is a matter of good and familiar spite")

i especially like the way that you have motiffs... rukia's drawings, etc, the titles in each section (titles are especially pithy)

it is a wonderfully done fic! you truly delved into their inner thoughts and it was so appropriate! i enjoyed reading it! keep it up! ^_^

I really, really enjoyed this take on events (and have also always wondered why a good proportion of the young females in this series have noticeably unique drawing styles... this played up on that wonder very, very well.)

I have to admit I liked it and thought the story sweet and solidly phrased until the last section with Renji... and then "Artistic Bonds" just got awesome. You tie all of the preceding stories together quite well with wonderful details (leaving through windows, scraps of paper, when-not-if...) and clear, compelling character voices.

Heh. A very sweet story.

Ichigo and Rukia's piece is classic. You do a nice job of exploring Ruki and Renji's relationship in past and present. Orihime's painful struggle to better herself is also well-depicted... I thought it was a great idea in the manga. And the touches depicting Byakuya's growing 'humanity' are also very nice.

I'm not sure how to say this... Bleach is interesting in that it depicts a lot of terribly and deep relationships, without succumbing to the urge to bring romance to the fore. As a result, the pain and affection between the characters seems even more valid.

In any event, you did a wonderful job illustrating the complex friendships and bonds that Rukia has with the people around her. Kudos.

Yes! Those are the background, in-the-meantime bits I wanted Kubo Tite to write... (I can't even decide whose point of view I like best, since they're all awesome. Maybe what I like best is the way you connect it, with the thread of Rukia and Orihime's scribbly art.)

For the first couple weeks they spent in Soul Society, she felt caught between the two emotions, tossed back and forth like a mutely flailing tennis ball in a game being played by angry purple-haired gorillas.
