abuseIn another review of this story, I made a stupid mistake; I suggested that Battousai hadn't been forged by Muramasa, even though now two flashbacks clearly show he was. I had thought Battousai's failure of the leaf test revealed him to be Masamune, which obviously he can't be.

On the other hand, apparently Muramasa-san truly surpassed himself when he forged Battousai; the dragon's fang's influence, perhaps?

abuseWow. It took me about two weeks to read this on my lunch break, but it was well worth it. I just LOVE what you've done with everyone, your writing style is just the kind I love; with heavy doses of sarcasm and a smooth, flowing pattern.

I must confess, I did a quick spin-off dialogue, where Battousai's fang-giver came back to give the sword a hug. Kenshin found the whole situation rather awkward.

I can't wait to see what you do next! Keep up the good work!

abuseFantastic story, but there seems to be some kind of disconnect between chapter 10 and 11 - one moment Goren and Eames are talking to Kenshin at Silver Systems, at the start of the next chapter, they're tied up in Kanryuu's care. Was this intentional?

Still, love the fic. It's probably my favorite fic of yours, and that's saying something.

abuseA vampire who chooses to go by the name of the place where Jesus died? I don't think rising as a vampire is quite the same as being resurrected. Still, it's interesting, as was this story. I liked the disparate individuals that work for Targate Alpha; they're all so different. Misao is really cute, and the side-plot with Li Chi was different in a good way. All this talk of dragons...yes, Kenshin definitely is one. Very protective of his 'horde' - i.e. family. The backstory with Tomoe was very fitting for this universe, and so was the end Jin-e came to. I had been wondering for the first few chapters when Battousai would realize that Kenshin was his great-grandson, and I'm glad he finally did. I do wonder if Master Hiko is still alive in this 'verse, and what curse-interesting thing will be next to happen to the Kenshin-gumi.

This is a great story. Well-written, interesting characters, and a great adaptation of the Kenshin storyline to a modern world. I will definitely be reading this one again. Thanks!

abuseWow. That is the first word that comes to mind. You kept the characters in character, ( I love how Kaoru didn't suffer from Prince Charming Syndrome - unable to help herself in a situation, or think level headly while in danger), as well as the plot! It was awesome and I really enjoyed reading it!

p.s. It was great how you expressed both sides opinions during conflicts, without loosing your main thoughts along the way. Not loosing who was on the 'good' and the 'bad' sides ^^

abuseI like this story. Here is fanart.
http://szt.

I love your OCs. I also love the dialogue, the tight plotting and worldbuilding, and the crackling fight scenes (especially the ones in this story and how they're such clever spins on the manga scenes).

I also love how this fic is man-tall plot bunnies made of crack. Sano is so in-character in both these stories that I want to hug him, and then punch him.

In the interests of balanced critique, occasionally I would have trouble following when a train of thought (particularly during very witty dialogue) or change of scene wasn't quite explicit enough. The worst of these was in this chapter at the start of Kenshin's dream/flashback; it took me four times rereading that paragraph saying "Wait, he lives in an apartment, right?" before I went with it long enough to figure out what was going on. Sadly, I'm not sure what in the nuts and bolts of storytelling can be used to smooth those transitions-- but I've read many published novels that have the same problem worse.

Danke, and keep writing!

abuseWell, I have four words for this series. "Must continue with sequal!" Truly this has been the most enjoyable retelling of Rurouni Kenshin that I have had the pleasure of reading. In fact I read it twice. There is just so much that I enjoyed as well as look foward to seeing in the future if you continue with this universe to write in. And I think it would be a crime if you didn't continue with it.

When I started with bloody blades I didn't know what to expect and by the time I finished with it, I was eager to find out if you continued it and was practically bouncing with happiness when I saw that you also had Witchy Woman. I loved the interaction between Battousai and Kenshin, especially when they completed the bond before the fight with Kurogasa. And of course when Kurogasa knew the name Himura, it just solidfied the fact for me that Kenshin was a decendent of the orriginal Battousai for me. I nearly collapsed with laughter when Petrio saw Kenshin for the first time and saw how seemingly cute and innocent he looked and proceded to bang his head against the wall. Though you have to admit, the innocent facade is probably the best disguise for a hitokiri.

I really do like how you wrote the bond between Kenshin and the Battousai. As they continue to work and function together they become closer and give each other what they need the most, the heart and calm to temper the rage and anger of the blade and the strength of steel for the heart of the sword to protect the ones that he loves. By the way I can't thank you enough for not putting kenshin in a Pink Gi. I honestly don't know what the animators were thinking putting him in that color. Any and all Manga art I've seen of Kenshin is him in either a red, blue or purple Gi. (maybe the animators thought it was red that was so often washed that it faded to pink? shrugs)

I really would love to see this continued. I am eager to see if we can find out more about Kenshin's family at least as it pertains to Kenji. I also wonder if they might ever leave New York in search of more of the blades orrigins. I just remember in the dream Kenshin had in blades of blood where "Ryuu-sama" was teaching the awakened blade Hiten Mistsurugi and mentioned that it might find it's way back one day. I wonder if that was the first master of Hiten Mistsurugi or one of the decendents. It also makes me wonder if he would still be alive like other Kin as long as he isn't killed.

We also haven't seen Saitou yet and if he's managed to live for the past 150 years he can probably give some clues to Battousai's past durring the bakumatsu. I loved it when Kenshin used the Gattouso to get out of Target Alpha. If I hadn't the luxury I would have probably fallen out of my seat laughing. I also look foward to seeing what will happen to Aoshi-san as he deals with what he's done over the past five years and possibly learns to integrate himself and the Okashira back into one as he was forced to separate himself for so long due to the enslavement ring.

You've also hinted that Virus has someone in it's collective who knew Battousai. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if whatever created virus or was pulled into the mass mind and had a strong enough mental presance to become a controlling factor in the mission of virus other than to assimilate more into it's ranks.

I must admit for Kenshin being a Dragon Kin, he does seem to have much more of a feline quality except for his sword technique. Especailly with the purring when he got his hair brushed but that was just so darn cute too. Of course, we don't know how a dragon would act anyway considering the dragons of legend disapeard centuries ago. Though I do have one question about Kenshin's ability to project the perception of harmlessness so people won't notice that he's different. I wonder what would happen for the people who would view him through a camera since I would think electronics wouldn't be affected by such a "jedi mind trick". I also hope that Kenshin can somehow get Wonderful Things away from Target Alpha, maybe leave the store in Yahiko's name for when he comes of age. After all it seems to have been in some brach of the Himura family for generations, on Kenshin's Mother's side.

I also look forward to seeing what will happen when Tomoe comes around again. If she's still in NY, It's a given that she and Kenshin will cross paths again and most likely Enishi as well. Though considering her ties with that wearwolf clan any storyline that involved them will most likely also involve some personal issues with Kenshin involving the death of his mother as well as the attempt on his own life. But after what she did to him, I would love for her to see Kenshin as his is now, bonded with Battousai. Would that I had half your talent and imagination for blending all of this together. . . .

There is so much more for you to tell on this and I hope you haven't lost interest in the subject. I truly do love your story and long to see the continuation of it.

abuseOh, man! I have to hand it to you, this story was great! More than great! Fantastic! I absolutely love the idea of Battousai being a completely different entity trapped inside an old sword and, well, everything else about him and what happened with Kenshin. I’m a bit tongue- tied since I’m so tired, but I had to finish it! I loved the first one and practically jumped right to this one after I finished Blades of Blood. I couldn’t finish Witchy Woman in one sitting, but I spent a couple nights reading it. It’s an interesting style that even though it sometimes seems short and even choppy concerning the sentences, it just fits with the type of story you’ve written. It adds to the fast pace and the overall anxiety of the action or suspenseful scenes.

Kenshin and Battousai’s interactions are so weirdly cool. The way Battousai’s speech is archaic mixed with the little add-ins like “cub” and “my own” just screamed different from the rest of the Kin. Dragon fits perfectly, and I have to say that I wasn’t all too surprised that he would end up being such a rare and awesome creature. Target Alpha sure got it in the pants when Kenshin found out that the Sword Spirit was actually his heirloom. Well, actually his ancestor. Can’t say that I feel particularly bad for Target Alpha though. Especially Natasha…she was…ng…

But, Eames and Goren turned out to be two ok people. I’m alright with them now. At first though…I found them a bit annoying, but they were just doing their jobs…

Anyway, in terms of maybe another one…a sequel to Witchy Woman? That would just make whatever month that it happened to be posted up in. There were more K&K moments in this one than the first, but if you did make another one, I’d love to see their relationship blossom a bit more. Especially since Kenshin’s, well, his current position as a rare Dragon Kin. -Grin- Don’t forget that this whole mess with Virus wasn’t finished yet. Yes? I so look forward if there is another story.

There are plenty of stories that are a retelling of events in RK, but Blades and Witchy Woman are the most…changed version I’ve seen. If you know what I mean. Heh. This whole NightLife thing now seems really really interesting. There are so many different things that I’ve never heard of before.

Anyway, I think I’m rattling on now. Heh! Awesome story and I hope that there is more to come! Tahnk you for writing these stories!

abuseI can't believe it took me this long to find the sequel to Blades of Blood. I'm an idiot!

And what a great sequel it was too! Goren and Eames provided a good rational counterpoint to the craziness of Kenshin's life as Battousai-bearer. You portray them both so accurately that their lines of dialogue sound like they could've been written by the scriptwriters of Law and Order CI. Poor Eames! She's understandably the hardest hit by the realization that things she thought were in the realm of legend and fantasy are walking the streets of her city.

Since the Virus is still 'out there' does that mean you're planning another sequel? Here's hoping!

I liked the way Kenshin's Wonderful Things store became a haven for Megumi and the others at the end, especially Misao. I can't quite see Target Alpha welcoming her back to the lab. She'd always be seen as a security risk thanks to Aoshi's mesmerization of her for one thing, and for another, I doubt any of her surviving co-workers would want to work next to the woman directly responsible for disabling the security system and allowing Aoshi's forces to slaughter their other friends and co-workers. Susan would have a few choice words about her shredded leg for example. Perhaps Misao could find employment at Wonderful Things? She and Yahiko could provide a lot of comic relief bickering if nothing else.

I loved the way you're developing Kenshin's character. You've kept his innate shyness and shrinking from inflicting harm/carnage, while allowing Battousai to show him when and how carnage is necessary in the context of the AU world of New York in your story. Battousai's form of speech 'my heart' and 'our cub' provide a lot of insight into the sword's character as well, and the dialogue between the two is a fascinating read.

Hope you continue this - it's really good.
