This is one of the most unusual FMA fics I've ever read. It was very satisfying, both in its originality and the quality of the writing. I was especially impressed with the way you captured Al, his innate kindness really comes through, as well as how young he really is.

It was interesting how you portrayed his relation to Bianca, and how interacting with her brought some of his characteristics up for examination. Al is brave when confronted by immediate danger, but apprehensive about the unknown, to the point where the very idea of witches can unsettle him. Al does his best to look out for those younger and weaker than him, but also clings to those who exude the confidence that he himself often lacks.

Perhaps because of this, Bianca is one of the best OC's I've seen in the FMA archives. While her exact nature is obscure until the end, she serves an excellent, well defined purpose in moving Al's thoughts and considerations along the lines of his own fears and his relationship with his brother. Also, she is quite adorable, which makes the ending all the more poignant.

I also enjoyed the setting. Your method really made me feel like they were in a small town at Halloween/Harvest time. Your research on the tradition of bonfires also helped with the authenticity. This was excellent.

1st paragraph was lovely and poetic. Halloween always seems to be the coldest night in October, though we're having it pretty warm for the first time...ever, I think.

Its nice to see some introspect from Al. You rarely glimpse what he is thinking or feeling throughout the manga/anime.

Lovely and well done as usual. This actually reminds me a little of another story on my favourites list: "Shades of Whimsical" by K. Firefly. Check it out, I think you might enjoy it.
