was revisiting this fic and saw the number of reviews...899 is just...wrong. You deserve 900 =) also because i am not sure if i've ever reviewed this fic, im pretty sure i did it at least once...but yeah...clearly not enough...just want to say (again, maybe) that i LOVE this fic and it's easily and definitely one of my all time fav =0)

admittedly (and don't hate me for saying it), this whole grotto thing felt slightly Harry Potter-esque (or maybe Lord of the Rings) not in a bad way, though. and just slightly (:

there was another beautiful line in this chapter:

"His gentle features, his eyes, his hands, it reminded him so much of his Mary, reminded him of what he was fighting for."

it kinda gives us more insight into John's doings, into what really drives him on. it's not merely plain old revenge. - I fell in love with him the instant he gave up on the one thing that seemed to have been driving him onward, back in the show, and sacrificed his life for his son... your words here fit in with that so well, it makes for such an awesome backstory to the actual show (:

that angry-on-Dean's-behalf Sam? awesome!

and I loved this simple, but oh so true line:

"He was definitely not perceived as a threat, and that couldn’t possibly be a good thing." lol

at least there's that physical contact between father and sons, the kind of comfort those idiot guys are denying themselves most of the times... (:

I've had the impression John was a little slow on the uptake as soon as Dean first said Sammy was not safe in the motel all by himself (back when Dean was still in the hospital).

well, granted, I know a little more than poor John so to speak... (after all, in the meantime I have seen Dean go to hell for Sam, and return... and make that heartbreaking confession (:

if this ain't one helluva pain fest. but very well done, for it doesn't come out of the blue and thus doesn't come across as just a means for some more Dean whumpage (some people--definitely not you, LOL--don't know that the secret to writing real good "hurt!Dean" stories doesn't lie in the number of injuries inflicted...besides, plot is always nice...)
