First of all, I have real doubts anybody will read my review. This is a story from 2001, and so many things have changed since then... I was completely different back then. The video game industry and fanfiction was completely different back then. It's almost frightening what a short 8 years can do to the world itself, from geopolitics (6/22 is before 9/11, mein gott!) to video games and fanfics.

...Ahem.

Anyways, perhaps the second most read section of a category on fanfiction is the last pages, after the obvious latest fics. It's so easy to be curious and click on the last pages, the deepest of the pile, the farthest shelf in the archives. And that is exactly how I got to this superb vignette. It's sad that this fiction will, in the end, be swept into the dustbin as a minor little detail in the history of the world, a unique speck of dust in a vast and glittering desert. But alas, that is how things work.

In any case, I review this story with little hope. Yet the talent here is astounding, and I have much hope the author has improved farther in his writing skills to become a master. This piece is a very interesting depiction of a simple game, and it depicts the feelings of Dr.Mario accurately. It is breathtaking.

I do hope you have written more in these past 8 years.

Please excuse my rambling. A favorite this shall be! No, even more, a Golden Fanfiction Award of BassEX's! I think I may even save this on my computing machine!

That was a really good story. I have never really read a Fanfiction story that powerful. The only thing that bothered me was Mario drinking/on drugs. You should write another Dr. Mario story!

i always wondered why when you complete level 20 it shows you this little under-the-sea thing with fish and sea weed and even a nautilus... and the virus' sort of heading off into the setting sun... er... nautilus? now if you can explain that... (i did hear a theory once that theres diseases and small pox and stuff frozen in the arctic ice, so combined with the day after tommorrow thing i guess it could work - but then again, who's to say biological warfare is beyond king koopa? i always heard turtles carry salmonella...)

Wow. Day after day I would pass by this fic, and finally, I decided to sit down and read it. You never really see much "Dr. Mario" fic, so I gotta say you intrigued me. :D

You really made me see the game in a new light, especially with how per level, and now it gives me a reason to freak out whenever I beat a level. (or get more determined? Who knows? XD) The drinking/drug problem turned me off a bit at first, but considering Dr. Mario's situation and the way you written things out, it made perfect sense and it seemed like something that would happen to anyone stuck with that dilemma in real life, adding to the effectiveness and drama of the story instead of it being all "lyke OMG Marios drinkign how funi!1"

Overall, I really liked this. Methinks I'll be on my way defeating viruses again... I love this game. :D *off singing "Fever" from "Dr. Mario"*

It was such a wonderful story. Ive never read a story like it-wish there were more like that. Ive always liked Dr. Mario and there are so few stories w/ him. It would be cool if u wrote this same story from Luigi's or Peach's point of view. Maybe they could comment about Dr. Mario's drinking/drug problem or about how worried they are of him. Keep up the good work!

Dr. Mario IS a wonderful game! I can't say that I imagined this as the type of fic that we would be writing for it...it always seemed so happy! Little did I know! But anyway, someone had to do it. Hehehe.

That story ruled! I didn't really like the vodka thing at first, but I guess it wouldn't have happened if the viruses weren't there. Anyway, this was a really deep story. I always figured the doctor thing Mario got into years ago was never anything serious, but I guess I was wrong.
