I love this chapter as it is so painfully adorable. Everyone is great in this chapter, so major points to you.

I had to take time out and tell you that I enjoy your work. I read the first three stories and now I'm reading this one. They are so very good.

When Kim cried "Domestic Violence" in this chapter I almost died. I remember when she would always cry "Pet abuse" and it always made me laugh. The domestic violence one caught me off guard. It was so funny.

Your work is really good and I hope you write more Kim/Shego fics in the future.

2009-07-22 . chapter 52
Alright, here comes a long one. So you better sit down and get yourself a drink for while you’re at it.

Okay, so after around year and half, I finally finished the “Walking The Line” Series. Could had made it shorter, but the fear of it coming to an end didn’t allow me to (and my personal rule of not reading two fics of the same author one after another). At any rate, we’re at the end here. Year and half of my time, but more than 20 years in-universe, and quite a lot has happened. So much to look back at…

But before that, I suppose I should start focusing on the epilogue.

And honestly, I really, really hate saying this, but I’m afraid I was disappointed by the epilogue. There was just too little to enjoy in it for me. Not that it was bad, just that there wasn’t anything I particularly liked. What I DID like was the two-year jump into the future and seeing more of the usual gang as more mature teenagers.

But my problem with this epilogue is that, in the overall, feels like a big “Last Minute Hook Up” and not so much of an epilogue. The only part that felt “epiloguish” was every time things came down to mention how the kids were growing up and soon their parents would have to let them go.

On the hook-ups, however, I really can’t say I felt really excited by the couples. Jayden and Bokuden was the least interesting one for me. Granted, there had been foreshadowing, but that only makes it so you can see it coming from a mile away! At least the interaction between Aztek and Raziya was fun, specially for the way she “asked” him to go out with her. And the Todd/Mayah bit was cute. (Poor Smiley’s gonna end up marrying her just because he can’t say No ^^U).

Maybe it is that this just isn’t what I like in romantic stories. I like it when there’s contrast between the two members of a couple, and when they bring about sides of one another that they don’t show to anyone else. (Which is one of the reasons I like KiGo, And why I liked Todd/Shi, since we’re on the matter) That’s why I just can’t find anything to like in Bo/Jade. Aztek/Razi was more interesting indeed, though I’d be lying if I said that I hadn’t seen the whole “He picks on you because he likes you” before. About Todd/Mayah, I still don’t have a defined opinion. It has potential, and it looks cute so far, but I guess I’ll have to wait to read “Going with a Smile” to give you a wider review about it on itself.

That said, whenever I liked the pairings or not, considering the story seemed to hint at the relationships worked, that matching test the kids took was certainly accurate. XD

Aside from that, another little thing that bothered me a bit was the parents (Shego, Felix and Betty) acting exactly the same way towards their daughters’ dates. I mean, sure, they being overprotective is more than understandable, but couldn’t it had a bit more of variety? Specially when I can see it more than possible. After all, what does Shego need to threat Bokuden for? Besides the fact that he’s the best behaved among the kids, if he dared do something improper to Jayden, what could Shego do to him that her daughter wouldn’t have done already? ^^U

And to end the criticism of this chapter: We don’t even get to see how the prom goes!? Oh, you damn little tease!! XD

Nah, don’t take that last one seriously. Just had to make that joke. ^^U

Now, it’s not that the chapter was bad. The dialog was pretty fun, the situation built up some tension, and the whole part with Jayden on a dress was hilarious. XD And like I said before, it was really interesting to see the crew at this age, even if there weren’t that many differences.

Something else that is mostly good, I believe, was that while the chapter worked as “last-minute-hook-up”, it didn’t really left things set in stone (save for Todd/Mayah, but “The Gods Must Be Laughing” is to blame for that one). So it sorta left things rather open, and the good thing about that is that, well, it just leaves you wondering! Thinking about what will be about these characters’ lives from here on, how did the prom go, who ends up with who, and etcetera, etcetera, etcetera… and well, at least it worked for me.

Of course, there’s always the problem that if you give your fans what they want (in this case, the answers), the magic is sort of broken. And that’s why sometimes I prefer not to have the answers. At any rate, I honestly haven’t been able to stop plotting a fic with these characters lately. Not enough yet to actually write a story, but maybe someday…

Never mind. Back to the chapter, it is true that I didn’t like it much, but I suppose my words are probably very subjective and mixed with my expectations. But from an objective point of view, I believe the chapter must have been mostly good, if not great.

You know what I felt that was missing, tough? Every… well, many of the times Felix’s life came to mention, there was that talk about the cybernetic parts he was building, which would some day allow him to walk again. Yet… we never actually got to see that one. Honestly, now THAT would have felt like a great element for an epilogue if you ask me. ^_^

And starting with that particular “look back”, I guess I should proceed with the review of the whole series.

The “WTL Series”, to call it one way, is without a doubt the longest one I’ve read ever since I began reading Fan Fiction. It was a long way, and certainly a unique story which almost always seemed to follow the rule of “not being normal”. Starting with Kim being a pet, and ending with eight exotic kids. The whole story surely made itself memorable, and hard to forget, without a doubt. Things had changed from time to time, and sometimes I find myself missing Kim’s days as Shego’s pet, but I really can’t complain considering how long that one went. Some argument I’ve had with a friend about this commented about how it felt that Kim never had any character development during the story, which I suppose he might have a point albeit not absolute. But most development certainly went to the most flawed characters, like Shego, and later to the new generation as they grew older and older. While on the other hand, the characters played as antagonists were left with practical no development or chance of redemption. The only ones escaping that would be Mego, Hego and Jason, while the worst example would be Todd’s biological parents, who weren’t even given names ^^U.

Sometimes this doesn’t bother one at all, because most of these characters, like Junior and Drakken, certainly drive the readers crazy and make us want to kill them with our own hands. But sometimes as well, I ended up wondering “What if?” with certain things. Not that I wanted Kim and Shego to break or anything, but like I said once, was it really necessary for Justine to show up at Kim’s wedding just to be portrayed like that? Well, probably it’s not my right to tell, but it just didn’t feel right to me.

Another usual characteristic of the series was its tendency to push suspension of disbelief a bit too much. This could sometimes feel out of place, but eventually it sort of grew to become a more then usual trait of the series. Whenever this would be well accepted or not, I realized, depended on the reward the reader would get from going with it. The first quite unlikely scenario was Kim becoming Shego’s pet, but the results of buying it was lots of cuteness and heartwarming moments, so anyone would go with it. On another hand, a quite dislikable case was how Shego kept and kept dating Drakken even when saying she didn’t enjoy being with him was already beyond understatement. And another case I noticed (by checking the chapter’s reviews) was the mixed reception that Kim’s way of getting pregnant received. And I’m sure I could mention more cases, but we have enough already. The series never bothered too much in making it SURE that we would buy this and that, but over some time, you rather get used to this and just go along. After all, what’s complaining worth for? And at the end of the day, we always get some nice and fluffy KiGo to make up for the bad times. ^_^

These traits and style certainly made the series and you stand out. The story, while neither perfect nor flawless, was certainly great and that’s how you remember it anytime you look back at it. It’s full of lovely memories that can bring a smile to the face, while the touching moments weren’t pushovers either. Nowadays, I know it’s one of the most remembered KiGo fics around, and for a simple reason: It’s fucking awesome! :D

And before finishing my longest review ever, I find myself needing to point out a funny something:

Todd became a paleontologist, alright. But I remember Kim in WTL chasing nothing less than a dinosaur! So… are dinosaurs not extinct in this universe? Then, what kind of ancient life is Todd researching? XD

Oh, well. As a reader who certainly enjoyed the story, I thank you for writing it. And as someone who reviewed it from tip to toe, I hope you enjoyed you feedback as well.

Sooner or later you’ll find me reading another story from you, and maybe doing some fanwork about it. But until then, my best wishes and the best of lucks for you. And don’t worry, if I ever make something with your characters, I’ll certainly tell you. ^_^

See you around, StarvingLunatic!

2009-07-19 . chapter 51
Heh, certainly not what I expected. The case was more serious than I had in mind, but the twist of it was amazing.

I guess it was just time for the kids to show off some skills and what they could do. And saving Kim and Shego in the process surely gave them quite some credit, fitting for the final adventure. Overall, it’s not like they faced the most treating villain around, let alone the most serious, but that fits the way the kids took the situation. And this series isn’t know for causing big drama in these aspects, anyway. Drakken’s demise and Gill’s latest attempt were the top of it. But the series shines more on personal drama, with the highlight of this episode having been the confrontation that came up when Jayden wanted to know who her father was, while there were several other notable moments around it, such as the conflicts there was for Jayden to be born in the first place, or Aztek’s premature birth, which also brought about the conflict of Shego having to take over a job she didn’t want and too much stress to deal with. And that without mentioning previous deals in the previous episodes, like the times Shego was dating someone else before finally setting for Kim, or the first time Kim and Shego had to say goodbye to Todd. Or hell, even the conflict that came up the first time Kim kissed Shego!

Sigh… look at me. It’s not even the final review and I’m already going over the entire series. ^^U. But well, it’s been certainly a long run, and checking the review dates on “Walking The Lines”, I can barely believe that it all started just a year and half ago, since it certainly feels much longer. But this is certainly the longest story I’ve read in the overall, and I must say, it’s been amazing, both on itself and the fact that it has reached so long.

Sad thing I couldn’t make this fic reach the 800 hundred reviews like when “Walking the Line” reached the 200, ^^U, even tough it was so close. But well, maybe you’ll get lucky soon and break that record. ^_^ (Then again, “The Gods Must Be Laughing” already has more than one thousand, so dunno if it’ll mean much. ^^U)

Ahem, anyway, back to the chapter itself. Uhm… I really don’t know what else to say. I can’t help but to feel some characters’ personalities were never too defined, specially Chyna and Romah, with Nobunaga barely having done better than them. And well, the rest had pretty well development and defining, and who knows, maybe we’ll hear more of the rest on the next story in the WTL universe. And at any rate, these kids were certainly enough to make some ideas pop in my head, some of them I already mentioned, and for a slighter example, I could see Chyna crushing on Nobunaga for some reason. (Heh, I remember how it was hard at first to remember Bokuden’s and Nobunaga’s name without having to check the fic again to remind myself of them. But now, I got them down with no problem.)

Overall, it was a nice final adventure. Not as big as other arcs of the series, but it’s not like I was expecting an epic finale. I’m confident in that the epilogue will be good, anyway. And well, I don’t think I have anything more to say right now, but believe me I’ll have plenty of more to say for the FINAL review of this fic. ^_^

And now, time to go for that epilogue.

2009-07-19 . chapter 50
Just thinking there’s only two chapters left after this one makes me sad… ;_;

Oh, well, everything must come to an end, right? Fortunately, there’s that story of Mayah and Todd you’re planning to do according to your profile. I can tell already this fic is not gonna cover much about how Todd and Mayah get together considering how little there is left…

Anyway, when I saw the Evil Eye Trio taking their moment in the spotlight, I asked myself in disbelief: “Are THESE gonna be the last antagonist the story is gonna show up?! o_O”. Though apparently, what they’ll bring is more fun than trouble. (Hopefully)

Whatever. The highlight of this chapter for me was what’s shown of Todd and Jayden interacting, which came out as both funny and gratifying. ^^

Well, time to reach the end of this!

2009-07-16 . chapter 49
God, I swear, when I thought of Jayden becoming a cheerleader my mind almost exploded. ^^U

Well, at least Gymnastic seems more fitting. Although I found it wierd, are Gymnastic really something people make fun of like that? Or "nerd" stuff? I personally never saw the two things combined or related.

Oh, well, this was a fun chapter, that's for sure. ^^

2009-07-16 . chapter 48
Well, I certainly didn't expectet to see Barking again. This is one of the few characters I find myself bothered at seeing in such an antagonistic portrayal since I actually like the guy. But oh, well, win some, lose some, whatever.

B-b-but... Leornardo passed away? ;_; Ouch... poor dog, he's been in the story so long, and probably qualifies as the only character who's no longer among the crew. He'll be missed T_T

You know, though, the latest chapter made me wonder some things regarding Jayden, as in, if her sexuality is ever gonna be well defined or if she'll get a "permanent" love interest. But... I think I'll rather just read and find out.

See you in next review! ^^

2009-07-15 . chapter 47
Well, I was able to make a pause and get myself something to drink after the situation in Jayden's family calmed down. I really liked these two last chapter, as they were probably the most capturing moment of the entire series for me.

I also liked the part of Jayden and Raziya coming to see one another as sisters, and the comment of Jayden about her hitting on Raziya was hilarous! XD I swear, if I write that Shi/Todd fic, I'm gonna explore further into that too. ^^

Well, I think I'll leave the fic for tonight and focus on some waiting project. See ya later in next review.

Oh, and thanks for such wonderful fics. ^^

2009-07-15 . chapter 46
I'm making this review fast just because I simply CAN'T wait for reading the next chapter. I swear, I can't remember the last time I read a fic's entire, ENTIRE chapter without making not even one single pause, but this chapter just wouldn't allow me to!

It was just... so goddamn strong, damn it. I didn't even have time to try and think what would happen next, it was like all happening in real time. Dammit, the start, the yelling, the slap, then Todd doing his best and Jayden being so stubborn, and in the end, only Raziya (who, ironically, is technically her half-sister) could bring her back to her senses.

I couldn't help but to feel that Raziya was also being way, WAY too mature for a twelve years old, but at least Jayden lampshading it made it slightly more credible.

And fuck it! See ya in next review!! *goes away running*

2009-07-15 . chapter 45
So the Todd/Shi romance is over... just like that.

Well, at least it's not an ending that would make impossible to write a story exploring the possibilities of them together. I could simply ignore than to-a-point unexplained break up, or... well, some plotbunnies have been jumping around my head lately.

Still, the good thing is that this chapter actually made me like Mayah a bit more. Yet, I'm actually surprised as the number of troubles this to-be romance has was way bigger than I expected. Makes me wonder just how are they gonna work them out.

Specially considering how few chapters are left.
Oh, well. Time to go for the next chapter.

2009-07-14 . chapter 44
Well, FUCK. It’s been long since a fictional character pissed me off SO freaking much. And damn, I was sorta expecting the four kids to beat the crap out of Fukushima, and yet, what they did seemed even better than that. Working fear in him, letting him know they could always defeat him without even having do so, now that’s badass ^^

Also, it was interesting to see their fighting styles. I certainly liked the diversity on that. Kinda makes me wonder if the rest of the kids will also have each one’s individual style, but I guess it’s just matter to wait and see.

Well, ‘til next review.

2009-07-13 . chapter 43
Wow, Fukushima's really a jerk on this one. Can't help but to feel glad about what happened to him, I dare say.

Aside from that, I think the story's reaching the point where Jayden will learn the truth about her birth. Can't help but to wonder how will that one go.

And... I think that's all I got to say of this chapter. See you in next one.

Oh, and thanks for all the replies. ^^

2009-07-12 . chapter 42
Somehow, this new start does feel refreshing to the story. Probably because of the new environment, tough I think those new skates also add to it. I just had a blast with the scenes I had in mind with the eight kids and Todd riding those things. XD

At this point, tough, I was rather surprised to see Fukishima being inserted in the story now. Before his name was given, I supposed this was going to be a character related to Monkey Fist, but I was wrong. I guess, though, this must be the first character inserted in a whole “different age”. Well, it doesn’t matter. I just wonder if he’ll have a deep role or what.

And damn, the epic fight between the Ultimate Snake VS the Cleaning Robot sure was quite a show. XD
Alexander - Godslayer
2009-07-12 . chapter 41
Well, again I must say I can’t help but to cheer for the Todd/Shi relationship, despite the whole complications of Shi forcing herself to stay at Yamanouchi that were added. ¬_¬ (Starting to plan a short Todd/Shi story here.)

Aside from that, it was kinda nice to see how all the adults were doing lately, and some parts of it, like Danthay’s and Betty’s naughty experiences, were quite amusing. The only problem with this is that it kinda shows you were sorta struggling not to leave these characters as “Background” characters by giving them time in the spotlight, but in doing so, it just brings up a rather drastic comparison. At this point, there’s hardly much to work with for the adult characters, they are already settled, they already went through development (Well, Kim and Shego at least), and they are okay like that. But of course, there’s a lot more to work with the fresher and younger Original Characters who are still brats with lot to learn, and the only one not-a-brat is discovering what’s potentially his first serious romance in the story.

Well, at least that’s how I couldn’t help but to interpret it to a point.

Anyway, at least it’s good to know Todd has finally changed his last name and is now officially Kim’s and Shego’s son. Kinda ironic that Mayah is feeling so sad right now considering this is what she’s been waiting for. But overall, good thing for our dear Smiley.

See ya in next review. ^^
