Ah yes, so it would seem. But it was only fit for Zuko to betray his people, because his people had betrayed each other first.

The only thing I don't like about this ficlet is that just for a moment it switches over to present tense at the end. Other than that, I loved it. It's really nice to see Katara's POV on the situation. She was obviously the most affected by it.

Wow...just wow. It's been a while since I've read any of your works, and I can see that your writing is just as beautiful as it ever was :D This was a lovely ficlet, and very powerful, too. I just wish Zuko wouldn't be so hard on himself. If anyone has a lifetime of bad deeds, it'd have to be Azula :D

All this talk of traitors suddenly reminded me of what gave me hope that Zuko would come around in Season 3. The day after the finale aired, I decided to re-read The Chronicles of Narnia, and I found this:

"'Your Majesty would have a perfect right to strike off his head,' said Peridan. 'Such an assault as he made puts him on a level with assassins.'

'It is very true,' said Edmund. 'But even a traitor may mend. I have known one that did.'"

Hopefully Mike and Bryan think the same way as C.S. Lewis! ^_^

Oh wow, this was possibly the most beautiful Katara perspective I've seen. It helps that you used one of my favorite songs, but seriously this was really awesome. Keep up the great work!

I like your portrayal of Zuko.

I hardly think Zuko has a lifetime of bad deeds to get nostalgic over-- he hasn't even been alive for a lifetime yet. Just three years of poor behavior and one very bad deed, really. Though it is like him to be dramatic about it.

Anyway, good ficlet. I love new post-finale angst fic.
