So I finally gave into temptation and read "The Pits." :) I can't say I regret it, not in the least. I particularly enjoy Danny's little psychotic breaks (as messed up as that sounds xD). The whole "Ember" thing just rocks, and I can't help but imagine her face if she ever found out exactly WHAT the dipstick has been doing with his memory of her...

And L'Jai's moving (in our/Danny's perception) from morally good... to grey... to pure black was geniusly handled. You can always tell who the villains are when they start calling characters "puny" in their internal monologues. xD

Wow, just wow. Creepy, adrenaline pumping, first person horror story. That's the only want I can describe this masterpiece. Absolutely amazing.

I have not been able to not think about this story since I started reading it. I've heard rumors about it in the DP fandom, but reading it is a completely different experience. Hearing that it's good, and then reading it and confirming that the word 'good' doesn't hold a candle to this story, is really amazing. I've never read a story quite like this.

Does Danny get to be normal again?! I have to know!

Who was the girl in the room-of-corpses-that-gives-children-nightmares?

I was wondering when Danny would puke after a fight. I was so sure it would happen with the little girl, but alas, he just blocked off the memories.

The Skulker sub-plot was really unexpected.

If Skulker and Wulf don't save Danny, I will be severely upset.
That it was Skulker under the cloak threw me off. I thought it was going to be Clockwork.

I think this fight was the worst one yet.

YES DANNY IS ALIVE LOL XD I really REALLY believed you were going to kill him, not wanteing to follow "Final Exam", but I'm glad you did.
This ending was perfect and I could have never figured it out (I remember a bit my past reviews...I never got even close to the truth XD).
So yeah the point is that I'm really happy that, after almost 3 years of begining to read the story, I'm DONE :D YAY! One of my favs indeed (I love stories that can even make me suffer or laugh)!!

Alright. First things first, I loved it! I know what you're thinking. 'Sicko. How could love something like this?' Well I loved the writing and the plot and everything! It's one of those amazing stories with horrible events. Poor Danny. I was hooked by the first chapter. It was amazing writing. I wish I knew what happened to the human girl in cell 143. And the girl in the room with Former right before Dannys last fight. So many unanswered questions. I have to read the story about what happens after he comes home!! Is he going to tell Tucker and Sam? Wait, where's Jazz?!?! Anyway I loved it. Amazing story! Thanks. :].

I've been a quiet lurker on FanFiction for a couple of months and have read numerous DP fics before having signed up a few days ago. But I have to say, this is without a doubt one of the GREATEST stories of anything I've ever read! I'm really not good at giving good reviews since I tend to want to nitpick and look at the entire thing at the same time, but I couldn't bring myself to not give some sort of critique.

Cordria…”WOW” is really all I have to say right now. This story is full of so much heart-wrenching emotion and angst in that's just hard to come by these days in any DP fic on this site. Great job on making it so believable. There were a lot of points during the story where I actually cried—and I'm one of those people who isn't easily affected by all the sad stuff that goes on in books or movies. Overall, I loved how the whole story was freaking drenched in angst. And all the little things too, like those internal conflicts Danny was having with the different parts of himself (Ember/"Phantom" and Dan), how he was questioning his sanity...they really added to the overall gut-wrenching emotion of the story. Seriously, the stuff Danny had to deal with during his imprisonment was very realistic—hey, we'd all go a little psycho if we were in his situation.

In addition, I just loved the thick, juicy plot that accompanied all this angst. All of those little plot-twists that really added on to the heavy suspense were what really drew readers like me into the story. Surprising moments like when we found out it was really L'Jai who had planned this whole thing, or when Walker had finally captured Danny's parents and used them against him, or when Valerie suddenly showed up in the Pits to fight Danny practically kept me glued to the edge of my computer chair (that was one of the several times I'd cried, not knowing what was going to happen but thinking that Danny was seriously going to have to kill her) and eager to find out what happened. The ending to the story took on a much darker and twisted fashion than I'd expected, but I really can't picture it ending in any other way--I mean, the classic everything-goes-back-to-normal-and-they-live-happily-ever-after ending wouldn't be the right icing for this cake. Final Exam was a great way to get some insight into how Danny’s life will be like in the long-term future even after he gained his freedom.

Your development of your characters—both from the show and original characters like Gory and L’Jai—was just beautiful. And Walker—GAH! His character was amazing—in a sick and twisted way, of course. :P I especially loved how you portrayed him as something more than the only somewhat-threatening sheriff ghost we see on TV into this dark, torturous, and sly warden who really knows how to play his cards right. His character really put a whole new meaning to “the rules.”

All in all, hands down, this has got to be the best Danny Phantom fanfic I’ve ever read. Cordria, you should be proud—your work really shows the true talent you possess as a writer. I wish you the best of luck in your dream of publishing a book someday—never give that dream up! I seriously look forward into seeing more of your work on FFN. :D *adds to favorite author’s list*

But anyway,
I haven't watcher DP in like... six months? and I came back to read this because I had nothing else to read, and i couldn't be bothered finding a good fanfiction, so I came and re-read this (believe me, that takes a LONG time) and I've realised that this is the best piece of wrting i've ever read. Better than Twilight, and i'm a full blown twilight fanatic :D AWESOME job.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE write the follow up! This story occupies my mind contantly and I really want to see what life is like outside the pits, even just for three chapters :D.

I just got the link to this from a crack van rec and I want to thank you for dedicating 2 yrs of your life to this story. I think that its something that will stay with me for years - it was that haunting.

I mean this in the best possible way when I say it was horrible and terrifying.

This is only about the 4th piece of Danny Phantom fic that I have read and I'd say over a decade of reading 100s of fics this one is unforgettable.

Your talent and dedication to the story is breathtaking and Final Exam made me misty.

Even years later after your original posting I just want to let you know it seems as fresh as if you just wrote it.

Thank you for sharing your imagination with so many people.
