the ending seems rather sad. I don't know if I would say i like it, apart from the ending, i think you did a jolly good job.

First off, I have to say that I love your penname.
Second, it was a good story, and the format was good. No major grammer or spelling problems that I saw.
Third, it was good as a one shot, I'm glad that you didn't draw it out with other chapters.
