For all his love of life, Vash does come across as borderline suicidal in certain parts of Maximum. You've captured that conflict quite well, the tug of war between wanting to live, even if only for Rem's sake, and wanting the suffering to end. What happened to Wolfwood and Legato could certainly only amplify that sentiment. Excellent character analysis. A somewhat oppressive read, but well worth it.

Surfing and revisiting old fandoms, I found this. Fantastic! It's a great job of capturing Vash's mind from Wolfwood's death onward. He was such a wreck. "I feel once more what it is to survive with no will to live." I think that's a beautiful way of putting it.

That was both very sad and very good. Seeing ghosts, drained of energy, depressed and suicidal... Vash needs a hug!
