I can count on one hand the number of fanfic authors that make me feel like a rookie with their writing. And you just made that list.

You have an amazing gift for using language. This little masterpiece just blew the socks right off my feet. Aside from being so incredibly eloquent, you painted a valliant, and brave picture of ALL the Z fighters in this.

Talk about character integrity. Let's see. Details...you certainly deserve them.

Ok. Vegeta's introspection was VERY well done, and I can't imagine a more difficult character to write from. His thoughts and how he envisioned his own death all rang true for me.

And I could almost see Tien, Yamcha and Gohan watching the disaster, the two larger, more seasoned warriors accepting their imminent deaths with quiet dignity. And for Yamcha, who knew Bulma the best to have Gohan send her Vegeta was a very nice touch. As was his resentment towards the prince.

Then Gohan's reaction...just WOW. A character meltdown is NEVER easy, because it is so difficult to make such a thing ring true. Usually authors (including myself) tend to make it over-dramatic...make the characters overly self-aware, spelling out instead of showing. But your rendition of Gohan's break through Chi Chi's POV was absolutely perfect. I get shivers just thinking about it.

And Chi Chi... LOVED how you portrayed her. Courageous, and composed... Putting on the hat of sanity in an insane circumstance, for Bulma and Gohan. What a warrior. I'm partial to her anyhow, and your depiction of her emotional strength was awesome.

And Bulma. You wrote her denial credibly without making her seem crazy. And I'm not a Vegeta fan, I don't care much for Bulma, and I certainly am not too fond of B/V. But that scene REALLY touched me. How she couldn't let go of him because she had a perfect physical image of him in that regenerator. I kept hoping like her that he'd come back to life.

And you even dignified his character before he died. How cruel fate was to snatch away his life the second he started to recognize that there were other things to live for besides all that B.S. he fed himself all those years. And you did so while still making him unforgivably hard.

Just all around a gorgeous piece. I'm glad to have stumbled upon it. I got up to feed the baby, and was in the mood for something well-written, and angsty. You hit the spot with this fic. I''m thrilled to have found it!

*sighs quietly* shit... *glances up, face silent* That was powerful. Incredibly so. I don't usually read non-Pic fics, but this just came out at me, and I clicked on it without thinking much. Then I read it. *shakes her head a bit* I wish you'd do more Z, because you're amazing at it. It's really up to you.

But where was I? ah, the fic... you're good, you know that? your writing brims with all this emotion, yet it's subtle enough that it blends into the fabric of the words, creating a tapestry... my love-hate relationship with certain characters varies enormously in fics, and this has to be about the most I've ever felt for Bulma-san... damn, she even drew my attention from the mentions of PICCOLO, for crying out loud! *laughs, but it's somber* keep up the great work.

Chilling. That's probably the best word I can think of to describe this. The emotions and angst behind this piece were wonderful, giving me the shivers sometimes. And you managed to capture the relationship between Bulma and Vegeta without being sentimental about it.

The little touches - like Gohan being on autopilot, and Yamucha renouncing his hatred of Vegeta - made it even better. Perfect.

*emotional force of the fic knocks her to her knees* Oh. My. God. This has to be one of the best DBZ fics that I've ever read. You did a great job delving into Bulma's psyche. And I loved that "Queen of Science" thing and her opinion of the androids. Absolute perfection; don't know how it could get any better.

I've been a fan of DBZ for nearly five years now. My friends tease me about it; mostly because they dont get it.. a show been on the air this long, with hundreds of episodes, they cant /all/ be jems. They've just been unfortunate enough to only see the lame ones and never gave it an other chance. I'm getting off topic... but the point is, it's emotion like /this/ that makes the show a masterpiece. It wasnt very long, but some how you managed to compress enough emotion in these few pages to jerk a tear or two. I usually dont read alternate timeline fics, but I'm seriously going to have to change that policy from now on, especially if you plan on writing any more. Vespera, my scouter is off to you. Thanks for the magnificant shortstory.
