It reminds me of the episode when Kid was sent back to the mamodo world. The relationship between him and Dr. Riddles was sorta similar to a grandfather/grandson relationship, since I think I remember hearing Dr. Riddles saying that Kid reminded him of his disceased grandson and wanted him to have the kind of good future that his grandson was never able to have. At least, that's what I thought he said.
