The reason why we've only had one christmas on Grey's isn't because Shonda messed up the calandar. Well, not really. It's because even though we are in season three, the interns are still in year one of their program. So technically, Meredith has only known Derek for about six or eight months where the show will kick off again in January of 07. So they must have started their program in late summer/early fall and now it's like spring of the next year, but a whole twelve months hasn't gone by in Grey's time yet, if that makes any sense.
