Hey its been a while since u updated got writers block lol. Update soon this is a great story.

Boy, this was just short of Don Rockwaller sitting on a couch cleaning a shotgun and saying in a rough voice, "So... You wanna date my daughter".

Sorry I missed reviewing the last chapter. Let me just say that this story still Rocks.

So I guess even someone who fights freaks can get nervous when first meeting their girlfriend's father. It took real cajones for him to also tell Mr. Rockwaller that he loves the man's daughter.

I'm trying to think of a worse time to meet the father than before breakfast, but I've got nothing. Good luck, Mervin. You may yet need your superpowers this day.

This is . . . fascinating, in very much the Spock sense of the word.

More specifically, it's very, very carefully nuanced; Donald Rockwaller is by turns forthright, civil, challenging, protective, and thoughtful; in a lot of ways, he sounds a lot saner and better-adjusted than any of the Rockwaller women, and yet there's just enough tension in his manner to suggest that there's something not quite settled about him. Just what that something is, we can't even begin to tell (and it may simply be Mervin's nervousness transmitting itself through to the reader), but it's there.

And then there's Mervin. On one hand he's responding to Mr. Rockwaller with an equal measure of forthrightness and sincerity; on the other, he's nervous as a kitten inside (not unreasonably, in the circumstances), and knows it. More -- he's also, not surprisingly, bouncing his perceptions of Mr. Rockwaller off the dynamics of his relationship with Hego, which has all sorts of interesting implications.

All in all, there's more and stronger character development in this brief scene than I've sometimes seen in whole novels from professionally published authors. And this is only the beginning...

All he had to do is tap the watch, Mervin becomes Mego and Bonnie's Dad... yeah, he'd still snap him in half.
Nice little look inside Father/Boyfriend relationships, I have my own experience in that to face soon enough and I hope mine goes as well or better.
