Hmm. I liked it; it was nice. I did like how you didn't get them together at the end; it's much more plausable than what a lot of people write.

However, it was a little vague. You could definitely expand this story so much, even into a multi-chaptered thing.

Your writing style is something I really liked, though. It's not so complicated you have to read it once or twice to understand what's going on, but you don't patronize to the audience. You've hit a nice median, and I think that's sometimes hard to find.
