I loved the way this ended with the glow on the tree and Kaoru as well. I'm glad that snow might not depress Kenshin any longer because of that wonderful star. I really enjoyed reading Kenshin and Kaoru out with their son when they discovered the Christmas Trees. And the way the little one said Christmas Tree was too sweet. This was another beautiful piece from you as they decorated the tree. (Sorry I just found this.)

Very nicely done. I liked the symbolism of the Christmas Tree and the picture of Kenshin and Kaoru's deepening marriage, and I loved their toddler son Kenji..what a sweet and cute character.

I love the sense of peace and healing implicit in the story, the fluff, and, last of all, I liked the message behind the appearance of the Star at the tale's end...the Star sent by He Who made the light and came to us at Christmas long ago for our sakes.

BTW, after the battle is over in my work, there will be a Christmas Party seen on one of Earth's colonies for our heroes in my next installment...too bad I couldn't get it done earlier...

I just received notice of this story in my inbox today, as well as your much coveted review. The backflow of botfiction finally came!

This story was so sweet and heartwarming that it almost made me cry. Not even my family has such special holidays. The tenuous relationship between father and son almost mirrors my own relationship with my father, which hollowed out my heart as I read. Kanshin's bloody past made him view it as a penance - noble, but foolish. Even the snow makes him want to weep. These are the reasons Kanshin is such a beautiful character and you highlighted them wonderfully with a new tradition in order to make his son happy. So very sweet. The part describing friends helping decorate the tree and the description of the star shining upon it really warmed me from within. Despite a horrid past, the furture can still be bright.

A belated Merry X-Mas my friend! This was a beautifully written and captivating story again drawing me even more into the realm of "Rorouni Kenshin" fandom. I loved the eagerness and the anticipation of Christmas exhibited throughout the story; one could literally 'visualize' it! I couldn't have thought of a more touching and heartwarming end than to have the X-mas tree shining symbolizing a bright future for Kenshin and his family.
You've given the readers a wonderful gift! Thank you!

*Sniff* Very cute! I'd love to see you write some other fics of this small family, particularly one where Kenji finally starts to admire his father. I want to see Kenshin and Kenji start to get along - loving each other as fathers and sons should, being best friends and the like. NONE of that OVA bull crap.

That being said, there's really nothing I can think to critique on in this piece. It was just the right length and the just the right level of thoughtfulness. It gave me a really happy feeling inside without bashing me over the head with Christmas cheer.

That was beautiful, especially the part about the Christmas star making the tree seem to glow and remind Kenshin that the past is in the past. Was Christmas introduced to Japan by about this time?
