You did amazing in keeping this in Varden's point of view. We saw and heard exactly as he could - which was drunk ;)
But honestly. It's the same concept of people who write within the POV of blind characters. We cant see everything as we would normally. So instead of the barmaids face, or seeing that it Lei that catches him at the end...we just get a hint by teary gold eyes.

Entire writing style is perfect, this flowed amazingly, and now I crave more. More!
