fantacination 2007-05-11 . chapter 1That was absolutely lovely. I loved the somber slightly cynical meandering tone of it all, especially as it was Artemis' point of view and how you explored a little how he saw his family (Butler-inclusive, of course), his mother in particular- a kind of mild disdain-exasperation at her frivolity but with fondness, going so far as to try to soften words for her (and the way Angeline /knows/ and yet one gets the impression she simply smiles it away is so IC and adds a layer to her character (although I was kinda surprised she was intoxicated)). One of the best points to this is probably the Artemis Sr-Jr conversation- it incorporated the sort of intelligent, well-read elements that we expect from them and an analogy-fable that explains the Fowl drive for greatness. ^_^ The connection-realization-conclusion he reaches is also very interesting- it sort of explains how protective (or more protective he becomes) of his mother, in a way... ^^ I'll stop there for fear of this being too long- but summarized, it was great!
I really only have one nitpick sorta- a typo >.> "as he had read many woman with uncertain husbands did." Mayhap you meant 'women' or 'a woman'? ^^ |
celticfox 2007-01-29 . chapter 1gosh- brilliant! I wish I could write like this. The only phrase I wasn't entirely comfortable is:
He wondered if it had something to do with Father, this morning: he had come to breakfast this morning, instead of having it delivered to his study, and he seemed to smile more.
It would make more sense as: He wondered if it had something to do with Father; this morning, he had...
Other than that it's absoloutely perfect, don't change a thing. |
Ever1 2007-01-24 . chapter 1I believe one of your reviewers just dissed baudelaire.
...O.o. Je ne comprends pas, personnellement, comment ceci est possible, mais bon...
Loved the fic. Senselessly. Fave.
I swear, though, it's depressing. You all write so goddamn well, I feel like a total failure. XD |
nodaaaaaa 2007-01-08 . chapter 1So gorgeous that I had to read it twice. It captured the Fowl family perfectly. I love! |
