That was a great story. I really liked how Rodney finally discoverd in the end what Sheppard was trying to communicate to him. I also, really liked seeing Sheppard's outlook on life.

Awesome story - you totally captured Rodney and John, I could picture them in my head as I read. It was a really sweet look at their friendship without being out of character and some lines made me laugh out loud, like this one;

“Log,” Sheppard said and Rodney tried to pretend he didn’t hear the slur in his voice.

“Yes, logs, trees, dirt, leaves. Nature abounds. Although it doesn’t help us any.”

“Get behind… that log.” And he leaned harder.

What a beautiful and touching story with geat writing and genuine characters. It moved me deep inside. I really had to swallow at Rodney’s holding on to Shep’s gun while waiting…
The only negative thing I found in this story was my having some difficulties at points in following the two different time-lines. Your portray of the team’s close bonds and especially the McShep friendship was superb!

Excellent fic. There were some good team moments as they dealt with the ambush and then waited for news and to keep an eye on Rodney. Great John/Rodney moments too as John looked out for Rodney and then Rodney returned the favour, both of them trying for their usual banter in the difficult conditions. You did a great job of Rodney's reflective thoughts and I liked the eventual conclusion he came to about his friends and how he should cherish every moment. I was glad that John once again pulled through too. He has more lives than a cat. Thankfully ;).
