Adi88 2007-01-15 . chapter 1And I’m hooked from the beginning… “complacent as yet another fever sweeps through her body,” “it seems to feed on her isolation…” Everything is so wonderful. Mm. Ooh - hey, you know, between “You Have Everything,” “Parade,” and this, we have a triumvirate of Little Akito stories. I should change the title of mine so that it starts with a P, but really, isn’t that fun? *hug*
I love Hatori being the one to teach her the cranes, instead of Shigure or her father, just because I didn’t expect it and would have chosen one of them myself.
“Wings and hearts of paper are too fragile to fly.”
- I know that absolutely everyone has already told you how they love this line, but seriously. I am going to make Mary make a picture thingy of it, because DAMN.
*bursts into tears*
I should never have read this on the same day as “Parade.” I am emotionally vulnerable right now, and this is even more poignant, and… everything here. Akira, and… Her thinking to make a wish on her juunnishi even over HIM, that’s huge, and - and everyone’s so… “She does not need either of them to be happy, it would be foolish to use a wish on them.” That line, right there, is almost the heart of the piece to me. I mean, the wings-and-hearts line wins, obviously. But that even in her WISHES, the freest place you can be, Akito puts her juunishi before her parents - that she’s angry enough with them to put them second, in a way - is so very telling.
“He loves her; she has made sure of that.”
- That right there, that is AKITO. Love is something you can create and enforce.
“She slowly and gently sucks the bit of blood from her hand, afraid to bleed. She cannot stand to remember that she does, and she hates it even more that one of her pets caused it.”
- All stand for beautifully wrought symbolism that even I can understand! Love, so much love… so exquisite.
And of course, you have found the one ending that’s better than absolutely any other. Rather than finding the perfect wish, she gives it up completely… and at the same time, she expects to achieve the same results as if she HAD made her perfect wish - keeping them with her. Layer that on top of giving up her wish so that they have to give up yours, and you have such an incredible net of selfishness and selflessness that it’s impossible to even tell which is which any longer.
I love you for it. |
RhiannonLove 2007-01-13 . chapter 1Ooh, I really loved this little peek into Aki's mind. ^^ The analogy between the paper cranes and the juunishi was pretty neat, too. ^_~
Everyone's saying this fic is cute, and I suppose it is, but to me, it was a bit disturbing - but in a good way, I mean! I always get chills when reading Akito POV fics in which she scrambles desperately to reassure herself that she has control of her little world.
Anyway, as I said, this was a very good little fic! *favorites* ^^ I look forward to reading more of your stuff now, hehe! |
 Windswift 2007-01-12 . chapter 1Yay, philosophizing!
Hatori brings Shigure along? Or Shigure is "Me too me too!" and Hatori has no choice?
Now that could be cute concept-art for this... Akito and little paper cranes lined up like ducklings behind her. Aw.
Another cute image... sitting on laps, hand in hand, making cranes. Wah.
No cranes for YunYun!
Ah... even better is this ending where she methodically unfolds every crane. The idea of, "I won't be selfish; instead I'll sacrifice because this will be best for everyone." Even if Akito's goals are slightly misguided.
I am happy to have helped with this!
