Its been an...interesting process, watching Lee and Kara stumble through all this. And let's be clear here, that's perfectly in character for the two of them. Their respective personalities should be 'compatible', but that risks overlooking how they are also distinct and unique individuals. The author is to be commended for remembering this and ensuring we don't forget it either. Its expected that they will argue and fight over the smallest things. Witness the minor blow-up between them in Chapters 21 and 22, or the bizarre negotiations that went into Kara settling aboard Pegasus and their eventual 'shotgun' wedding. I've no doubt she's been continually plotting and planning her revenge for the latter, though clearly those plans are presently shelved by recent events. The author has nevertheless kept things consistent and logical, tossing out just enough curve balls to keep at least this reader interested. And now we ender completely unfamiliar territory, with canon completely ejected out the airlock and a completely different set of problems to deal with. We are down one Battlestar, Lee is MIA (hopefully only for the moment), and Cylon occupation of New Caprica has begun. One can only speculate on how the characters will respond to them, knowing full well the author will as likely surprise us all. The author is be commended for how they've handled the story to date. Its been rocky where appropriate and sweet when called for, but its been an interesting ride. One hopes the next phase will be as fun and unpredictable as the past 56 chapters have been. |
