Reviews for Astronomer: Past and Present
hajimebassaidai 5/4/10 . chapter 1
That is beautiful. One, I've discovered a new poem that says something to me. Second I love the three time periods in this story. The first shows John quietly hiding his intelligence and deliberately maintaining his wonder at the stars, leaving the lecture to keep it uncrushed. Then he shows Rodney his place to view the stars and while Rodney doesn't see the pure joy of it, his innate curiosity and constant quest for understanding means that his intellectual approach doesn't damage John's experience but enhances it. Then finally, after what he experienced Rodney gets it and the two od them share the wonder of it all. Loved it!

Lovely. I've always had a thing about the stars, too, so this story is particularly touching.

This is a great poem and I loved your story interpretation of it.

This was wonderful. The poem fit the story so well (and the other way around :) ). Nice to see that Rodney has a certain latitude not usually seen in scientists and why John's not too fond of science himself.

Thank you.
