 Mesonoxian 5/25/12 . chapter 1Wow, I truely love this fic! |
MelonSplash 4/1/12 . chapter 1Wow. That was just great. One of my favorite Batman fanfics is Homefront by Anonymous2004 and in contrast to this story, her/his story deals with how Batman does NOT help the little people. Just an interesting new perspective to explore. We never really do get to see/hear the entire public's perspective of Batman. Good job! |
Saphimire Karishnikova 1/4/12 . chapter 1Wow... I really love fics that explore Batman's relationship with the public of Gotham and this was just awesome. 3 |
therussetfox 12/31/11 . chapter 1I just wanted to say that the story was a joy to read. Thank you for writing it. |
KrnYong 12/28/11 . chapter 1I was refferred here by TV Tropes, and I'm glad i was. The characters, their dialogue and actions and everything feels very real. Batman is sufficiently badass while still being heroic, and the main characters, while being hookers, are portrayed nicely as real people with feelings, as they should be.
Overall, I thought this was very good. :D |
Munz 11/13/11 . chapter 1This was truly amazing and inspiring. |
 Spidey-phd 2/17/11 . chapter 1Fantastic! Great story! |
Forever Reading aka meg 2/15/11 . chapter 1WOW!
I'll read a story like that any day just point me in the right direction! |
 magdilen 6/26/10 . chapter 1Awesome story. |
L'Zoril 1/8/10 . chapter 1The best Batman noir I've ever seen save for Falling to Grace. Reading this makes batman seem more human than the comics have lately. Yes they have him suffering and being hurt but they lack the interaction with others in gotham. For me your story puts names to those faceless people that batman saves.
The way you used batman in the story reminds me of Neil Gaimens "Dream" from Sandman. Where the title character while important is just a side character to facilitate the telling of another's story. Which I seldom see done as well as you have.
I'd love to see a Frank Miller comic with this story.
Thanks |
xenokattz 1/6/09 . chapter 1What a fantastic peek into Gotham from its non-spandex citizens. I loved how you showed Danitra and Tess as heroes in their own right, perhaps even more so because they are, as far as society is concerned, in the lowest possible class but they keep fighting in their own way.
I can't even cut & paste all my favourite parts because this review would be too long. Let's just say this is going to be printed out so I can read and re-read even when I'm not online. Thanks for writing this! |
maraudergurl2010 8/15/08 . chapter 1 Oh my lord, this was brilliance. How do you do this? How do you come up with such wonderfully real and touching characters? It is a gift that I feel so unworthy of having it shared with. I admire once again the flawlessness of the way you write your characters, as they are for all intents and purposes your characters. I especially enjoyed Robin making a vocal appearance for once. It was rather endearing. A hundred-watt smile? What I wouldn't give to see one of those.
I love Danitra. Tenacity, dedication... discipline. She learned remarkably well. Then again, all the strong people I've ever known became that way and found themselves through such 'accidents'. Real, she is very real. And it is so odd but I felt this inexplicable sense of pride when she decided to change, when she accepted that it would be difficult. And I appreciated the fact that Tess could feel that as well. My memory fails me (as it usually does - it is the only thing I can depend on in this life) but was Tess the woman who helped Batman in 'Fall to Grace'? I think she was. This explains so much more. Much appreciated.
I enjoy these little parts of Gotham Noir you are sharing. It makes it much more real, so much more interesting, and something else that I can't describe, cannot possibly explain to you properly. All I know is that I crave more of this. And I think it might be particularly amusing for you to know that I read this entire chapter to the song 'The Call' by Regina Spektor, from the Narnia Soundtrack. I felt that the melody sort of went well with the... not childlike, but rather un-childlike character of Danitra as she learned and pushed herself to be better. It fit well with the hope that was inspired, perhaps. Danitra was hope.
Perhaps I read this story to the most horridly off of tunes. However, I think it is mainly important to know that I got chills from reading this and wonder for the greatness with which Batman performs his heroics. For his humanity, for his grief-turned-good.
Brava, my friend, brava. I anxiously await more of this delicious creativity.
Peace,

hoheehum 6/30/08 . chapter 1A very strong, elegant piece. Great OCs, perfect canon characterization. I particularly liked your presentation of Batman being "more than a man," how, rather than words or expressions or body-language the women seem to respond to some intangible force he exudes.
Great job! |
Verity Kindle 3/30/08 . chapter 1Wow, that's so cool- it's good to hear from the perspective of one of the "little people". ) |
Call it Karma 1/8/08 . chapter 1DAMN that was incredible! |
