xenokattz 2009-01-06 . chapter 1What a fantastic peek into Gotham from its non-spandex citizens. I loved how you showed Danitra and Tess as heroes in their own right, perhaps even more so because they are, as far as society is concerned, in the lowest possible class but they keep fighting in their own way.
I can't even cut & paste all my favourite parts because this review would be too long. Let's just say this is going to be printed out so I can read and re-read even when I'm not online. Thanks for writing this! |
marauder_gurl2010 2008-08-15 . chapter 1 Oh my lord, this was brilliance. How do you do this? How do you come up with such wonderfully real and touching characters? It is a gift that I feel so unworthy of having it shared with. I admire once again the flawlessness of the way you write your characters, as they are for all intents and purposes your characters. I especially enjoyed Robin making a vocal appearance for once. It was rather endearing. A hundred-watt smile? What I wouldn't give to see one of those.
I love Danitra. Tenacity, dedication... discipline. She learned remarkably well. Then again, all the strong people I've ever known became that way and found themselves through such 'accidents'. Real, she is very real. And it is so odd but I felt this inexplicable sense of pride when she decided to change, when she accepted that it would be difficult. And I appreciated the fact that Tess could feel that as well. My memory fails me (as it usually does - it is the only thing I can depend on in this life) but was Tess the woman who helped Batman in 'Fall to Grace'? I think she was. This explains so much more. Much appreciated.
I enjoy these little parts of Gotham Noir you are sharing. It makes it much more real, so much more interesting, and something else that I can't describe, cannot possibly explain to you properly. All I know is that I crave more of this. And I think it might be particularly amusing for you to know that I read this entire chapter to the song 'The Call' by Regina Spektor, from the Narnia Soundtrack. I felt that the melody sort of went well with the... not childlike, but rather un-childlike character of Danitra as she learned and pushed herself to be better. It fit well with the hope that was inspired, perhaps. Danitra was hope.
Perhaps I read this story to the most horridly off of tunes. However, I think it is mainly important to know that I got chills from reading this and wonder for the greatness with which Batman performs his heroics. For his humanity, for his grief-turned-good.
Brava, my friend, brava. I anxiously await more of this delicious creativity.
Peace,

hoheehum 2008-06-30 . chapter 1A very strong, elegant piece. Great OCs, perfect canon characterization. I particularly liked your presentation of Batman being "more than a man," how, rather than words or expressions or body-language the women seem to respond to some intangible force he exudes.
Great job! |
Verity Kindle 2008-03-30 . chapter 1Wow, that's so cool- it's good to hear from the perspective of one of the "little people". =) |
Call it Karma 2008-01-08 . chapter 1DAMN that was incredible! |
TheWatcherandReader 2007-11-19 . chapter 1It's always good to find a fic done from the other side of society. Absolutely fantastic. Keep on updating. |
Haydee 2007-03-28 . chapter 1Very nice; well written both technically and stylistically. The transition to a second "first person" voice over halfway through jolted me a bit, but not a big deal. I particularly enjoyed the scene with Robin-- I had no trouble at all believing that he would help train Danitra (it seems a little improbable that Batman would) and he's always fun. I also very much liked the intro section, the reflections of the "world's oldest hooker." |
 IVIaedhros 2007-03-26 . chapter 1Frickin...so good... |
Sabine 2007-03-24 . chapter 1 I really love this story - it is so awesome how you write about a fictional world in such an realistic way! The people in your story don't seem to be just flat fictinal characters but show their own personality in a very believable way!
I like Batman and lots of other stuff from DC and it is really nice to read fanfictions which have as much qualities as yours! :)
Somehow it isn't really like reading just a fanfiction but more like a short novel or something like that - you are really talented!
I would love to read more from you! |
Snownut 2006-12-19 . chapter 1This was an amazing story! I love your characters, they were real and well portrayed, and it was absolutely wonderful that you also brought Gotham to life. Most of the time, it's hard to remember that Gotham is as much a part of the storyline as Batman's character. Well done! I hope you write more! |
Joanna 2006-10-01 . chapter 1 amazing, the power of the human spirit. to change tragedy into strength. my tears welled up at the last part. |
 TJ 2006-09-01 . chapter 1 What a great story!
Thank you. |
 ladyFrost2 2006-05-23 . chapter 1Hope? In Gotham?
That was fantastic - I can't think of anything I've enjoyed reading more in an age.
All your characters - yours and DC's were superb and although the story was uplifting it was still more than gritty enough to keep it in the world of the comics.
I loved it. Thanks. |
Jimaine 2006-04-24 . chapter 1How am I allowed to say that a story that started with a girl getting beaten to within an inch of her life was heart-warming? Isn't that against some cosmic rules somewhere?
And yet, it was. I liked all the charcters, they were very real, and I *loved* Dick and Danitra. It was interesting and a good read. Thanks! |
 RubyNye 2006-03-02 . chapter 1 *applause*
A friend compared a story of mine to yours, so I thought I'd read it. I was thoroughly sucked in and completely enthralled. Gotham! With hope! Hooray! *cheers* |
