Emerald-Leaves 2009-12-05 . chapter 1I've read this story before a few years ago, but I never reviewed, so here's my review...It was SO cute!! I love it! I always thought Spock and McCoy could've been fast friends as children. In a way, they're so similar at times that they're dissimilar. Does that make sense? Well, anywho, I love it! Very well done! |
The Buzz 2009-07-08 . chapter 1This is very cute! Your characterizations of young Spock and Bones are great. Thanks for sharing! |
T'Laina 2009-02-17 . chapter 1This was great! It had me giggling the whole time, and it's so believeable, too! I love how Spock finally throws Jimmy across the yard and was still so calm about it. Fantastic. |
Anna Amuse 2008-10-04 . chapter 1Oh, this is adorable! I kept smiling (more like grinning) from the first word to the last. "You will cease this behavior" - honestly.:)) Very sweet, warm, sunny (despite the fight!) piece. Thank you!

 Nehfi-Tirri 2007-11-26 . chapter 1How sweet ^^ |
Radon65 2007-10-01 . chapter 1What a cute little oneshot! I love it. Spock was so amazing. I especially liked his line about being at the optimal level of growth for his age group and that his attire was in the norm of Vulcan dress, so Jimmy's entire statement was illogical. That was great. And McCoy was cool - he'd be a little firebrand as a kid! The handshake discussion and everything between Spock and McCoy was really nice. I really love this. |
 traycon3 2007-03-03 . chapter 1 AW!
That story was absolutely adorable! I loved McCoy trying (resisting urge to write tryin') to explain to Spock the concept of a joke.
Also, I just think the concept of them as kids is just adorable.

Ster J 2007-01-24 . chapter 1I think this story is great! As far as Amanda's relatives coming from Seattle, that was in the pro novel Ishmael. Doesn't mean it's true. Amanda always sounded Bostonian to me! Another pro novel has young Spock visit his aunt and cousins in the Midwest (Minneapolis?) Point is this--You write in your own universe. Amanda can come from Tennesee or Timbuktu, if you so want.
I like how you charcterized David McCoy. Leonard had to inherit his sense of humor from someone. I suspect that Spock inherited his from Sarek!
Your protrayal of these characters, as one reviewer recently told me, are certainly the fathers of the McCoy and Spock we grew to know and love. Well done!
As far as why they ended up arguing so much in their adult years--I know many people (couples and "just friends") that can only communicate with each other by sniping (arguing). It usually leads up to some wonderful "Making up" time! |
MuseUrania 2007-01-24 . chapter 1That was great! :) McCoy and Spock as kids makes me chuckle. :) |
Midnight Topaz 2007-01-24 . chapter 1Aw!! That is **so** sweet!! I have a soft spot for fics where the Enterprise crew meet each other as children (especially any combination of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy).
This is fantastically done! Keep writing!! :-) |
Traycon 3 and Fishey Me 2007-01-24 . chapter 1I think it was adorable! (In reply to Schematization's review) They could have distant relations there. Folks who moved or whatever. I've got family in New England, though my immediate family lived in the south. Likewise, I love how you portray them as young a "youthful," you know, instead of just a mini-version of their adult selves.
I like how all your characters fit in the story. Even Jimmy (though I must admit, I skipped your author's note at the top, so my first thought was "Why is Kirk in Georgia beating up Spocck and McCoy?" Stupid me...).
I noticed two things that bothered me, well, maybe three. Firstly, you have Len introduce himself twice (first as Leonard Horation McCoy, then again as Leonard H. McCoy.) Spock's comment on needing a name change seemed out of place, since Len is refered to by at least 2 names, 'Lenny McCoy' and Leonard McCoy'. I couldn't tell if he found the human name amusing, or if he thought the combination of the first and Sir names were the whole name. Second, my brain tells me that Spock wouldn't throw anyone unless said person were on top of someone else. He learned the nerve-pinch at a very young age, (Seven, if you follow TAS). I guess I figured he'd do that.
Blah blah, fishey_me needs to stop going on... It was a great story, I loved it. You could write something (I know it's a one shot, bear with me) explaining why - after this event- McCoy proceeds to insult Spock on TOS. I hope to see more of your work! -F_M |
Schematization 2007-01-23 . chapter 1Ones with the well known crew as children are always fun to read, like the Daycare series that's being going around for awhile. So this is a nice addition to that whole idea of what these boys would be like at that age. Especially concerning Spock and McCoy. they always tickle me and to be honest it would have been fun to see someone actually pull that off for a show someday...
The only thing I find slightly amiss to what I've been told by man Amada and Sarek authors and fans and from refernece material from Star Trek. Amand's family come from the Pacific Northwest, Seattle specifically but generally around Washington state and Seattle area.
Other than that it was a delightful story. |
